It is SO hard to put the last few years of our lives into words! Growing up with your soulmate is something special!
It all started at my church when me and Jesus were freshmen in highschool. Jesus and his brothers started coming to my church one Sunday and it only got better from there! I would see Jesus every Sunday and Wednesday at church and youth group. I couldn’t help but start to adore everything about him! Humble, funny, and strong; what a guy! Time continues on and so does my little 15 year old crush on Jesus. I was most definitely not going to say anything about this little crush I had to anyone! Wellllll that was until my friend Kayla started dating Jesus’s oldest brother Isaiah (now Kayla and Isaiah Olmedo)! Everyone knows how it goes, your friend starts dating the guy you likes brother and then you will eventually start dating their other brother, right?!?! It just made sense! This was my chance to get with Jesus! I had to tell Kayla!! After telling Kayla about my thing for Jesus, her and Isaiah planned how to get us together. Their plan was in the works; me and Jesus had started to grow a friendship. Through Jesus walking me to all my classes, to the bus, and us eating lunch together everyday we grew pretty close. We were really young at this point so you can’t expect 15 year olds to know much about relationships..... you would think. Jesus really blew me away by how loyal and intentional he was from the beginning. He was always there and never left room for doubt. After four months of this, Jesus asked me to be his girlfriend while he was walking me to the bus after school. We both remember that day so vividly. Jesus in his worn out carhartt jacket, me in my bright yellow shirt. He asked, I of course dropped my glasses out of astonishment and proceeded on to say yes with a huge smile! Out of all the times he had walked me to the bus, this one was by far my favorite. March 3rd, 2016 I love that day! I know this all sounds childish but c’mon we were 15 hahaha!
So, little did I know 5 lonnngggg years later Jesus would ask me to be his wife! EEeepp!!
The story just started lol! I could go on for hours about all the things we have done and been through together! From endless wrestling tournaments, to movies where I always fall asleep, to grocery store dates, to cooking new things, and finally all the way to renovating our future home together. Togetherness that’s what those next five years were. Having a best friend who doubles as a lover is something I wouldn’t trade for the world!
God has blessed each of us abundantly with the other. We can clearly see how God has worked and continues to work in both our lives through bringing us together. No one pushes me closer to Christ than Jesus does. My faith would not be where it is today if it were not for the accountability we have for each other. Through all the many ups and downs, our relationship has been such a refining process through learning how to love the Lord 1st and more than each other. We are only able to love each other well (most of the time) because of the example Christ set. His love is unconditional.
“But God demonstrates his own love for us in this: While we were still sinners, Christ died for us.” Romans 5:8
“We love because he first loved us.” 1 John 4:19
“Then Jesus said to his disciples, “If anyone wants to follow after me, let him deny himself, take up his cross, and follow me.” Matthew 16:24
I pray our marriage be nothing less than dying to our selves and in turn living for Christ! Here’s to our happily ever after!❤️
We got engaged on Christmas morning! Ugh, how sweet!! So,this is how it went. Every year Jesus comes to my house on Christmas to open presents with my family. Alright, I already need to back up so you don’t miss some important details. A little bit after thanksgiving Jesus calls me and starts bragging about how he already got me a Christmas present. He says “you're really going to love it”. I didn’t think much about this. I just thought he was really confident in his gift lol! Now, I knew marriage was a goal for us and we were trying to make steps towards that. What I didn’t know is that it was coming very soon! Let’s fast forward now to Christmas Day. Jesus arrives at my house early that morning. I was ready to see this gift that he said I was going to love. Jesus walks in the door with a little tiny bag? This threw me off. Where is my awesome gift??? Hahahahaha! Anyhow, we moved on to open presents. Jesus opens what I got him first and then I open what he got me. I grab the tiny bag and pull out $50. His exact words were “I didn’t know what to get you.” In my head I’m thinking “ what? He told me he already got me something I was going to love. He made a point to brag about it?”. I didn’t say anything because I didn’t want to hurt his feelings. My mom said “hey , now you can buy what you want!” Umm okay ??? I was getting very suspicious and noticed how Jesus was acting weird. What is up with this dude? After presents, my sister starts cooking breakfast. We all hang around waiting on my grandparents to arrive. It’s a tradition that they come over every year on Christmas morning to all the grandkids' houses. There is a knock at the door and my dad tells me to go answer it. I think it’s my grandparents, but I’m also thinking “why would they knock? They normally just come right in.”. I get to the door and I see Jesus’s entire family in the front yard with a big sign, “will you marry me?” I lose it. A day that I had wanted so badly to come was happening right before my eyes. Jesus walks out on the porch, gets down on one knee, will you marry me? YES, YES, YES, a thousand times YES! This day was a dream. Jesus made it so special. Family means so much to both of us and he brought both of them together for this wonderful day! What a sweetheart! I love him!
