WHERE IT ALL BEGAN... scenefest 2014. Joel and I both had tickets & wound up hanging out in the same friend group. We're always standing beside eachother in photos... coincidence??

That lil friend group lasted about a week... we hung out once or twice after, had a waterballoon fight & played Doritos Roulette.... then one of the pals went to cadet camp and that was the end of that. LOOK AT US BABIES!!

Skye & Joel are STILL NOT DATING... but this is us after prom (also LOOK AT THE DATE OF THIS PHOTO AND ALSO BE BAFFLED THAT IT WAS TAKEN IN PELHAM!!)

What we call "the meet cute". We reconnected in St. Catharines after a few years of staying somewhat connected after high school. We crawled bars on St. Patricks weekend before the world shut down & realized there was maaaybe something special going on...

Our very first hang! We had been texting, calling, and facetiming everyday since that "meet cute"... it wasn't until 3 months later where some *restrictions* were lifted and we got to hang out for the first time since! It was adorable and sweet... we spent the day in Toronto, Joel made us coffee, hung out at the park & had a balcony picnic listening to the "Skylight" record by Pinegrove, and walked around ... A LOT.

Our first Hamilton day (and second hang). Skye got to discover Hamilton for the first time, and this day later became a reference for the proposal (see more below!). This very spot is (where we had our first kiss... hehe), and also, where we later got engaged <3

The weekend where it became OFFICIAL... we said "I love you" and figured that was a sign we should start calling each other boyfriend / girlfriend.

Our first trip together!! Skye got invited to a cottage getaway with a family business that she was cooking for... Joel got to tag along! We had so much fun this weekend (look how excited we were about this watermelon!), and our strongest memory from this is cooking way too much pasta for the 20 people that were with us. Nice!

What we refer to as "our first date" (though we had been dating for a few months at this point... this was our first nice dinner out in Toronto!)

A classic move from early s & j hang days... we'd go for a walk, have a coffee, buy some groceries & make some killer sandwiches.

Skye's 21st birthday! Skye's buddy Hani sent us on a scavenger hunt all over Toronto (we discovered our favourite restaurant because of her!) then we celebrated with a park picnic at the end of the day. What cuties!!!

... zoom date. Our first and only. We went to the Guggenheim in Spain (virtually). We even dressed up for it.

Skye & Joel's summer of funky hair! Joel experimented with dying his buzzcut an array of colours; pastel purple, lime green, and bright purple with pink hearts (as a "Valentine's surprise" to Skye). Skye pixied her hair and later bleached it.

Skye & Joel spend one last day together (at Grace & Eli's wedding!) before Skye ventured out to Europe for 2 months! Wheeeewww we did that!!

Skye returns from Europe.. with slightly more sensibility (and perhaps Joel gained some too?)

Skye moves to Hamilton! We were pretty cheesed :-)

Good Ritual. Skye & Joel became co-workers / artists in residence together (with good pal Catharine Rusby Bell) at Eucharist Church, and made a multi-disciplinary, immersive exhibit about formational habits.

Joel & Skye move in together!... But first, we had to renovate parts of our home (which was a very meaningful & fun time). Thanks Joel for building more drawers in the kitchen!

WE GOT ENGAGED! Joelie recreated our first Hamilton day dinner at the Pier, and gave Skye a crossword that popped the question. Skye absolutely knew it was coming, brought donuts for the occasion, and, of course, said yes!!!

House warming / Joel's B-day / Engagement Party. Yup.. in typical Galenkamp style, we lumped 3 celebrations into one. We got to welcome our people into our home, celebrate Joel's 25th, and break the exciting news about our engagement!!
