If the weather is nice be sure to check out the National Mall! Great for wandering, a picnic, or diverting off of to visit a museum.
The botanical gardens are a great place to relax and relax. Lots of beautiful things to see here!
Our favorite museum in DC! Admission is free and be sure to check out any special exhibits they have!
Who doesn't enjoy the National Museum of Natural History? Last time we went, we saw a giant sloth and were all in awe. Can't go wrong with this museum!
We love the Hirshhorn and definitely consider if a must see museum, especially if you love modern/contemporary art!
Artechouse is a super unique, immersive experience that anyone can enjoy! Check out their website to see what is being exhibited currently. They also have a bar at the end of the experience that offers exhibition-related cocktails!
This is a great museum! Smaller than some of the others on this list, it could be good for visiting if you want to see the whole museum but don't want to become overwhelmed by something larger like the Portrait Gallery or Hirshhorn,
A great museum to check out in the Dupont area! It has rotating exhibits, and you can see the museum itself and visit the beer garden outdoors as well.
If you're looking for a casual bar to hang out in, check out the Commodore!
This bar is located less than a block from our apartment and has become a favorite of ours (not just because it's so close to us - they have great tots!), especially in nice weather when we can sit outside.
Agora D.C., a family-owned, Mediterranean Mezze Restaurant, rooted in the vibrant Dupont Circle neighborhood, is another restaurant located a few blocks down from where we live; the website notes that it "features the aromatic elements and textures inspired by the rich culinary traditions of Turkey melded with flavors from Greece and Lebanon."
We love it for delicious shared plates, a great ambience, and creative cocktails. The interior is beautiful, and they also have an expansive, heated (when needed) patio! We recommend making a reservation ahead of time as this place fills up quickly.
Ask anyone who knows us, and they'll tell you Barcelona Wine Bar is one of our favorite places. Ever. Their brunch and dinner menus are both incredible for small, shared plates, and their paella is excellent as well (the Spaniards who taught us to make paella in Madrid might have their critiques, but we love it!). We love it so much we looked at hosting our reception here - if only!
Definitely make a reservation ahead of time as this place is always busy!
Le Diplomate is a famous French restaurant in DC! It's very delicious, but it books up SUPER fast. If it's a must for you, we recommend booking as soon as possible!
If you are looking for a casual place to hang out in on 14th St., try this beer garden! Food trucks in the back offer food, and this company offers a lot of unique beers.
Another casual, fun beer garden option - Garden District!
Childhood Cafe opened up next to us recently, and we love it! The interior is calm and enjoyable when you need some good AC, and they have a good size patio as well - great for pleasant weather!
We recommend it for delicious coffee as well as savory and sweet pastries (they have homemade pop tarts and all sort of creative latte flavors!)
Another coffee shop very close to us, 350 is great option for a caffeine boost and lovely outdoor seating. Plus, it's in viewing distance of the Commodore in case you want to make them consecutive stops!
You might've heard of this bookstore/cafe/bar already! It's a great stop for books, snacks, a cheeky drink, or a tea (they give you a whole tea pot - gotta love that). This is a Dupont staple - we definitely recommend checking it out!
