History

Spring Mill Country Club, located in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, is a private club that has an 18-hole championship golf course along with a magnificent clubhouse and a separate banquet facility.

In addition to these amenities, Spring Mill also has an athletic club, swimming pool, an 18-hole pitch and putt course, lighted practice range, and mini-golf. Originally, the Spring Mill property was named Heuscher Farm, a "truck farm" that grew vegetables. This prime location of 186 acres was purchased by a group of people that were members of Whitemarsh CC in Pennsylvania and members of Laurel Oaks CC in New Jersey.

In 1968, the stockholders proudly opened their public golf course and named it Bryn Llawen GC. In addition to the championship golf course, the 18-hole pitch and putt course, practice range, and mini-golf were opened as well. During this time, Mr. and Mrs. Hap Carr, long time Montgomery County residents, became business partners. In 1972, Hap Carr became president and he renamed the golf course High Point GC because the 16th tee was the highest point of elevation in Bucks County.

High Point GC and the entire property were sold to Peter DePaul in 1986, who is still the owner today. He changed the name to Spring Mill and the club became a private facility as it is now. Today the golf course has undergone many changes since the DePaul family has been managing Spring Mill Country Club. Cart paths from tee to green now wind their way through the golf course, five ponds with fountains in the middle have been added, beautiful plant life and colorful flowers enhance the landscaping that surrounds the tees and greens, and over 600 planted blossoming trees provide definition to the once wide open golf course.

Spring Mill is a par 72 course and is known for its long length from the Championship back tees, which measure 7320 yards. The Blue tees measure a comfortable 6626 yards, White tees 6289 yards, and the Red tees 5589 yards.

Spring Mill has hosted many golf championships over the years. The Sandiego Open originally was scheduled here. In 1994, the Trenton District held its J. Willard Hoffman Amateur Match Play Championship at Spring Mill. In addition, the Golf Association of Philadelphia has seen several of its events played over the beautiful landscaped golf course of Spring Mill Country Club.

Point to Point Directions

FROM I-95 (North):

Exit at Street Road (#132). Travel

Since Rocky's triumphant run, the steps of the Philadelphia Museum of Art have become an international destination. Travelers from around the world embark on their own jog up the stairs, pumping their fists in the air as they cherish the spectacular view. To finish off the experience, head to the bottom of the stairs and snap a photo with the bronze statue of Rocky, originally created for Rocky III.

Pose with the Rocky Statue & run up the "Rocky Steps."

The Liberty Bell was originally used to call the Pennsylvania Assembly to meetings. It was later adopted by abolitionists, suffragists and Civil Rights advocates, making it a symbol used by many today. The bell, which is free to visit year-round, draws people from around the nation to snag a photo in front of the soaring glass walls overlooking Independence Hall.

The Philly cheesesteak is inarguably the city's most famous food. These awesome sandwiches consist of chopped (or thinly sliced) steak and a choice of cheeses and/or fried onions on a hoagie roll. Those in the know order their cheesesteak with two words only: cheese selection (provolone, American or Whiz) and "wit" or "without" onions. The debate about which local spot cooks up the best sandwich may never end, but for an iconic Philly experience, locals visit the corner of South 9th Street and Passyunk Avenue, where rivals Geno's Steaks and Pat's King of Steaks feed the masses daily.

While historical attractions abound in Philly, Independence Hall holds monumental significance to the development of the nation. In 1776, the Founding Fathers signed the Declaration of Independence in the building's Assembly Room. Just 11 years later, representatives from a dozen states met here to lay the framework for the U.S. Constitution. Today, the UNESCO World Heritage Site is the centerpiece of Independence National Historical Park, and guided tours are available year-round. Free, timed tickets are required and can be picked up at the Independence Visitor Center but plan ahead – tours fill up fast!

Note: The LOVE Sculpture has temporarily moved to Dilworth Park while Love Park undergoes renovations.

The LOVE sculpture from Robert Indiana is one of Philly's greatest landmarks and makes for a perfect Philly-centric photo. You'll currently find the LOVE sculpture at Dilworth Park while its namesake park gets an upgrade through spring of 2017.
