We recently had our wedding at Bishop Farmstead, and overall, it was a beautiful and memorable experience. The venue is absolutely stunning — our guests couldn’t stop raving about ...the food, the warm and welcoming staff, the gorgeous grounds, and the atmosphere. It truly felt special from start to finish.
One of the things I appreciated most was how much was handled in-house through JAM Hospitality Group (formerly JAM Catering) — the food, cake, coordination, and of course, the venue — which made the planning process feel streamlined and manageable. Leading up to the day, we experienced a major personal loss with the passing of my father. Gina, our event coordinator, handled the necessary last-minute adjustments with grace and compassion, and I’ll always be grateful for that.
On the day of, Gina and Ava were both attentive and proactive. When an issue arose with a guest, they didn’t hesitate to follow the agreed-upon process we had discussed for handling unwanted or disruptive behavior. Gina in particular kept a strong, open line of communication throughout and made my husband and me feel genuinely supported.
That said, I do have a few suggestions for the future. First, there seemed to be a breakdown in communication between PPA (who owns the property) and JAM (who runs the events). We — and our coordinator — were unaware that a public bike race was scheduled for the same day as our wedding, with Bishop Farmstead as a designated stopping point. At one point, a biker wandered into the wedding suite while we were getting ready and began poking around. It was an awkward and invasive moment. While we had the option to lock the suite, we chose not to, in order to avoid locking out family members and vendors who were coming and going.
Second, there were a few small but noticeable details that were missed. The flowers were delivered late and a disruptive guest created some added stress, so I understand the team had a lot to juggle. Still, the sweetheart table was initially missing a rented chair (thankfully it was placed in the barn before the start of the reception). There were also a few details during the planning process that were inaccurate or unclear, but to Gina’s credit, she handled each with professionalism and care when we brought them up.
Even with those hiccups, I would still recommend Bishop Farmstead and JAM to couples looking for a charming venue with a supportive and kindhearted team. The good far outweighed the few bumps, and I’ll always look back on our wedding day with love and gratitude.
