When it came to both photography and music, my husband and I honestly felt a little out of our depth planning our wedding. There’s actually a joke in the TV show Girls5eva where a ...character says her kid only knows how to dance to the intro song of The Daily podcast, and that honestly describes us pretty well. We are not music people and had very few strong opinions going into the process.
But after meeting Karan over Zoom, I immediately knew he was the right DJ for us. He had great energy, was incredibly enthusiastic, and somehow instantly made me feel less stressed about the whole thing. I also remember he was wearing a beanie and clearly younger than me, which weirdly reassured me — I thought, “Perfect. Someone cool to handle the music and create a fun atmosphere.”
One thing that especially stood out was how thoughtful he was about our multicultural wedding. My husband is Punjabi, and since we were already doing a nontraditional, nondenominational wedding, I mentioned wanting his family to still feel represented and comfortable. Karan immediately reassured me that he had been to and DJed many Punjabi weddings before and would naturally incorporate touches that would resonate with the family. That meant a lot to me.
Working with him leading up to the wedding was incredibly easy. Since I didn’t have many strong music preferences, he sent over several Spotify playlists for inspiration. I basically clicked through the first few seconds of each one and thought, “Yep, this sounds right,” and somehow he completely understood the assignment from there.
On the wedding day, he was fantastic. He was great at commanding the attention of guests whenever we needed to transition between parts of the evening, and he helped lead a game in a way that felt fun and natural rather than awkward or overly cheesy. One of my favorite moments was when he played Punjabi music for my husband’s family — it created such a fun dance moment and made everyone feel included and excited.
Something else that really stuck with me was how thoughtful he was throughout the event. At one point, he even came by to check on Christina and me and offered us water while we were taking photos, which was such a small but genuinely kind gesture.
We had a relatively small multicultural wedding with about 60 guests, but he handled everything seamlessly, including setting up in two separate locations for us. I trusted him to make decisions like speaker placement and sound setup, and everything went off without a hitch.
Overall, Karan brought exactly the kind of energy we wanted: fun, confident, easygoing, and professional without feeling overly formal. He made the entire event feel lively and comfortable at the same time, and I’d absolutely recommend him to couples looking for someone who can keep the atmosphere fun while still making everyone feel taken care of.
