I had wedding guests who are professional musicians come up to me and tell me they couldn’t believe how amazing the band was! Additionally, John was GREAT to work with and we are so thankful he and the band played the songs we requested including a last minute request of the portuguese rendition of “Girl from Ipanema” for my mother in law who is Brazilian (she cried the entire time they played it.) I really cannot say enough about this band!! Plus their price is completely reasonable! If you are looking to book a talented band for an event Current Affair is it.

Music was so important to us that we sent the band an exhaustive list of songs we wanted to hear, and they played ALL of them (including several in Spanish and Italian), and played them beautifully! In the days since the wedding, guests have reached out to comment on how wonderful the band was. My only regret is that we barely had a chance to eat because every song was better than the next and we didn't want to miss the opportunity to dance and celebrate with our loved ones. I communicated with John for essentially two years before my wedding, and every time the conversations were just great. He was able to accommodate a lot of my crazy asks! I had even requested that they "play" a song that didn't seem possible to me to be played by a band (danse kuduro), and they absolutely NAILED it at the wedding! When I talk about range, I truly mean it. They played everything from Led Zeppelin to Rihanna, to Cardi B and even surprised my dad with some Grateful Dead!! I would recommend The Current Affair to anyone who wants to have a sincerely awesome party and jam packed dance floor at their wedding. They were off the charts!

ng! He was very pleasant and accommodating to our request of song choices. My husband and I chose an upbeat song for our first dance, however wanted to slow it down for the dance. When we told John the song (“Be My Baby” by The Ronettes), he said that he will be able to accommodate our song request. I must say, when the female vocalist sang our song, it was truly the first time I cried at our wedding. She was so melodic and beautiful- I wish I had it on my ipod! John played the keyboard during dinner which was a huge hit! He played a great blend of music- most of which ended with my guests clapping after each song! Guests raved they thought they were at a concert during dinner! As far as the dancing, the song selections were exactly what we wanted! We discussed that we wanted a mix of oldies and contemporary- which was a perfect mix! We wanted the wedding to feel like a party- which it did! John and his band truly kept the crowd on their feet! The band members interacted which our guests which was fun! Our guests said they felt as though they were at a nightclub because of the positive energy they bought to each rendition of the songs. Truly wish I had their album of the songs they played for our wedding!

They were incredible!!! SO MUCH BETTER THAN I EVEN EXPECTED!!!!! If you book Current Affair you will not have to even think about the music!! Let them know what you want the mood of your wedding to be and don't think about another thing (other than your first dance song and your parent songs!) THANK YOU FOR AN INCREDIBLE NIGHT!!!!!!!

hey were. John, the band leader is the most amazing person to work with. He went above and beyond to learn and play every single song we asked for. We had 90’s music, Disney music, Broadway, Spanish, and during dinner he played a Billy Joel set which was like we were at a private concert. People have him a standing ovation!!!!! Pia Toscano of American Idol was the lead singer, and she sang our wedding song. I wish I could relive that moment for the rest of my life! The floor was packed from the first dance to the encore song (that everyone chanted and begged for!). People are still RAVING about them, saying they want them at every event for the rest of their lives! John and Current Affair will NOT disappoint.

ding this past Fall, our expectations and confidence were very high based on prior great experiences with CA, both as a guest and as a direct client (for our other daughter’s wedding). Our negative experience stemmed from the fact that we were never informed that the band’s leader, John, would not be in attendance at our wedding. In addition, there were three other band member changes – the drummer, lead guitar and the 2nd male lead vocalist (Elvis). We were only made aware of these changes the day of the reception, as our guests were arriving. We were told by one of the band members that John does not play with the band as often anymore – but often only books the events and coordinates with the customer. Yes, we were blindsided --especially since we had communications with John right up to the week of the wedding. While it was also a disappointment that John couldn’t be there to perform as we expected, the real problem was that all of our pre-event communications (run of show, song selections, entrance details) had been with John. The other band members were not adequately prepped on essential details. As a result, the Father of the Bride needed to spend time briefing John’s replacement as guests were arriving and periodically during the evening. Due to the inadequate preparedness between John and his team, the “run of show” did not go as planned; including, bridal party introductions were not announced correctly, there was an uncomfortable delay in queuing up the bride & groom’s first dance and the last few songs of the evening we not performed as planned. In knowing John from the past, I am confident that this all would not have happened if he were onsite. And if we had known this prior, even just a couple of days before, we would have been prepared. We would have had the necessary time to coordinate with his replacement prior to our event. And unfortunately, the new primary contact that evening was at times somewhat condescending in his approach, which was not good considering everything else that was happening. It goes without saying that this band is extremely talented but customer service and communication are just as important in ensuring a smooth and successful event, one that is so important to a bride and their family who puts so much time and effort into planning this once in a lifetime event. amazing our wedding / the band was. In addition to the 9 piece band during the reception, we also had the guitarist for our wedding ceremony and cocktail hour and he was fabulous. He learned our special song "I Choose You" by Andy Grammar and had me in tears the minute the doors opened and I heard him strumming the notes. In addition, while the guests were entering the reception hall after cocktails, the band was playing Son of a Preacher and as soon as Pia began singing I just looked at my husband and we both said "Yep, we made the right choice." In addition to all of this, they also learned the instrumental version of X Gon Give it to Ya and had my friends and family in hysterics when the bridal party entered to it and us again saying "WOW." Honestly, I could go on and on about how amazing the band was, but if I were you I would hire them and see for yourself! They had me, my friends and family on the dance floor the entire time (for a day wedding!) Absolutely top notch and the first person I will call for any of my future event / musical needs.

. Having good music was really important to my husband and I to keep the energy going. We definitely made the right choice because the dance floor was packed the whole night. We heard many comments after the wedding about how incredible the band was. We also really loved the acoustic guitar for our ceremony - beautiful and classy. The only negative was that the response time to calls and emails was not very quick. Ultimately, everything worked out well.

n our meeting with John when he assured me that they can play almost any song which is requested, I was doubtful a live band would be able to reproduce exactly and play certain songs (some EDM songs) which were in our songlist. Boy, was I ever wrong!! Current Affair Music is probably the best live band I have ever had the pleasure of hearing. This sentiment was expressed not only by me, but by plenty of my guests as well. My fiance and I are so glad we went with Current Affair Music over a DJ or any other band. The richness of the instruments and vocals of a live band made our reception even more special and elegant. They made our wedding even more special. His singers hit every note perfectly, at times I thought I was listening to the actual artist! I will definitely be recommending John and his band to any of my friends who are planning a wedding. Highly recommend Current Affair Music for your wedding!

My family and I have been using Current Affair at our family and family's company events for the past 10+ years, and there's nobody I would rather have play at my very OWN wedding than this amazing, talented group of musicians. They played at my dad's second wedding, my sister's wedding, my aunt's second wedding... you get the idea! To put it the way my fiancé did (since he's seen them play..at my sister's wedding in December 2012) - this band is "incredible" and "they can play ANYTHING just as well as the original artist, and in some cases, even better." He also said "Yeah, you hear 'wedding band' and you think 'oh great, all old people stuff'. But this band? This band is legit." They do everything from Lady Marmalade to songs by Lady Gaga, Coldplay, Sinatra, KC and the Sunshine Band, Dean Martin, Louis Armstrong, Dave Matthews Band, Red Hot Chili Peppers... etc. Their range and energy are unbeatable. The dance floor is packed from introductions through cake cutting and beyond. What other bands will have your guests yelling "Encore! Encore!" at the end of the night? I never even considered having anyone else play our wedding. Current Affair is a class act, and I can't wait to dance the night away to them on October 12, 2014!

At 11pm, we handed out costumes and sun glasses and the band played a 1.5hr grand finale Funk Set including George Clinton, James Brown, Marvin Gaye, and many other Motown/Disco classics. The band also played all of our requested songs, no matter how obscure. Lastly, if you hire them, please get the full trio horn section. The horn section made such a difference! I highly recommend Current Affair. They are extremely flexible, easy to work with, and are the highest quality band with the broadest range of songs of any performers in the NYC area.
