It's traditional for the wedding couple to dance at their wedding. And back-in-the-day when everyone danced as part of life, that was just accepted. But as a society most of us have lost that skill and today, many couples get to their weddings and don't know how to dance.
The very idea is terrifying to some people. They think all dancing is choreography -- memorizing pre-planned moves that must be executed correctly. They think that to dance at their wedding they will have to memorize a series of those choreographed moves, that they'll feel awkward or silly doing them, and that they're required to "perform" for their guests.
Or worse, they think that the only "safe" way to survive a stress-filled dance in front of the most important people in their lives, on the most important day of their lives is to memorize choreography, struggle to do it "right," and hope and pray that they don't blank out in the middle of the dance and forget what comes next..
Is this what you think?
Lucky for you, nothing could be further from the truth!
First of all, it's YOUR wedding!. You get to do, or not do, anything you want at your own wedding.
So if you don't want to dance, don't. (But, I'm telling you, dancing blissfully with the love of your life in your arms, on this most important day of your lives together, can be other-worldly as a glorious experience.)
Second, dancing at your wedding is not a command performance that you are obligated to fulfill for your guests' judgement and approval. It's a moment that you and your love share with each other. Period.
And Third, dancing can be as easy as walking, as tender, romantic or flirty as you're feeling in that moment, and as much fun as playing with your best friend...
Yes. Dancing is playing -- with your partner and the music. This kind of dancing has many names -- freestyle, social dancing, improvisational dancing, lead/follow -- and it's pure play, as you and your partner take turns inviting and responding to each other as the music moves you. And all you need is to know some simple secrets of how to do that. It's not hard -- there are no wrong answers, no wrong moves, and no wrong steps.
I can show you those secrets and help you get to playing, and I would be honored to do so.
Let me help you get to 'play' for your wedding dance.
I teach the kind of dance that people do, 'just for the fun of it'.
I've been teaching people like you to dance for 29 years -- for weddings, anniversaries, and other life events, as well as for a fun "date night" skill that you get to keep your whole life. -- I've taught students from elementary school through university for a grade. I teach people of all ages for a fun hobby or for health reasons. I teach wedding couples, their families and members of the wedding party to dance for that most important day. And always, first and foremost -- I teach them to dance for the fun of it.
See you on the dance floor :-)
