Couples and their loved ones can escape into the great outdoors at Holcomb Valley Ranch, a wedding venue in Big Bear City, CA. With sweeping landscapes, this four-season locale offers a tranquil backdrop for celebrations. The ranch was established in 1860 by William Holcomb when he discovered a quartz ledge laced with gold in the valley. Later, the property became a cattle ranch and then a Scout camp. Now, it is a welcoming retreat for those who want to dip their toes into nature.
Holcomb Valley Ranch spans 400 acres and features a dining pavilion, swimming pool, rustic buildings, and an archery range. These structures are fragments of the ranch's long history. A convenient two-hour drive from Los Angeles, San Diego, and Palm Springs, the grounds offer plenty of opportunities to enjoy the great outdoors. Couples can easily transform the outdoor spaces to suit a range of events in different sizes. They have the option of renting the entire grounds or just the few campsites they require, along with the event and ceremony spaces.
Holcomb Valley Ranch offers a number of a la carte services that can be added to your wedding rental package. This includes the assistance of a parking attendant and access to a large BBQ firepit. A number of rentals are also available, such as disposal bins, a bar, and portable toilets. The large covered pavilion also features electricity for your convenience. The ranch is brimming with a sense of romance, complemented by convenient amenities and plenty of picture-worthy sights.

Two best friends, with big hearts and big visions. It all started with love for nature and wine... and a glorious picnic in the meadow. We opened the doors to Holcomb Valley Ranch in the Spring of 2020. It has become the setting for countless engagements, weddings, events, getaways, and experiences. Our Ranch is a magical place that is meant to be shared. It has become a place for love, laughter, healing, adventure and Zen. The Ranch has a way of being something unique to everyone who experiences it. We look forward to sharing our home away from home with you.

My husband and I just spent the weekend here, and it was beautiful. The ranch is very well taken care of, there’s clean port-a-potties at all the camp sites. We rented a one acre plot and felt like we had the ranch to ourselves! It’s close to t...

We camped at site E3 at Holcomb Valley Ranch and it was such a memorable experience. The ranch itself is incredibly peaceful, with beautiful views & surrounded by towering pines, open meadows and wide-open skies that make for amazing stargazing...
at night.
We had a bit of an adventure when we first arrived late in the night—our Tesla Model 3 got stuck on the way in. To our surprise and gratitude, few of the folks from the ranch along with camp host Ed came over to help pull us out, even though one of them had his daughter’s wedding to attend within the hour. That kind of generosity and helpfulness is rare and we are so grateful and blessed to encounter this.
The campsite at E3 is spacious and quiet, a great spot if you want a mix of privacy and views. That said, it’s important to note that it’s not suitable for low-clearance vehicles—you’ll definitely have a smoother time getting in with something higher off the ground.
The facilities were mostly fine, but the flush toilets were unfortunately clogged during our stay and could use some maintenance or upgrades. It wasn’t a dealbreaker, but it stood out compared to the otherwise well-kept surroundings.
All in all, Holcomb Valley Ranch is a gem—stunning scenery, a serene atmosphere, and people who truly go above and beyond. We’d happily return again (next time with a higher-clearance car!).

Visited Holcomb Valley Ranch in Big Bear while attending the Young Men’s Weekend event, and the setting was absolutely incredible. The location itself is impeccable — wide open, peaceful, and surrounded by nature. It’s easily one of my favorite...
camping spots. There’s something special about waking up to the sound of wild horses in the morning, a rare experience that adds to the atmosphere.
I camped here for 3–4 days, and it was remarkably quiet and relaxing. The only noise came from a road behind the property where off-roading vehicles passed, but it was minimal and never distracting enough to take away from the overall peace of the place. The land is vast, giving everyone plenty of space to spread out and enjoy without feeling crowded.
For anyone looking for a spot that combines natural beauty, serenity, and a touch of the wild, this ranch delivers. Five stars without hesitation — highly recommend for group events or personal camping trips.

We had our wedding at HVR at the end of July 2026...safe to say, it was quite literally the BEST DAY EVER!! The bride and grooms suites were clean and set up nicely. The shower's were clean, and many of our family members used them and said the...
y were great! Ed, the camp host, was FANTASTIC!!! Super accommodating, and helpful! He and some staff even joined us during the reception lol
We've heard from so many friends and family members that our wedding was the best/coolest/most emotional/beautiful wedding they've ever attended and I truly think HVR had a huge roll to play! 10/10 could not recommend them more.
Here's pics from the wedding day and the rehearsal :)

I am not one to write bad reviews - I know everyone has a bad day or certain things happen. However, what was supposed to be a peaceful getaway in the forest because a terrible experience.
So, I received a call on the way up the hill from HVR ...
staff. I was told there are NO fires permitted due to safety reasons; after all there was just a big forest fire (the Gold Fire) that had burned nearby. I was told that charcoal or propane fires are acceptable. I was also told that there was a huge wedding this weekend (first I had heard about this, else I would not have booked a site here, but more on that, later...). He said I will indeed see people with fires at various sites (which we did), and those are OK (for them, not me or anyone not in the wedding party), because they had booked this a long time ago under some contract. I mentioned I was really surprised to hear this about the fire situation at the campground, and it was disappointing - I was also told during this call that I had to have been told earlier in one of the communications about the fire situation. I was not told anything.
Who wants to go camping without a campfire?? Answer = no one.
1. If a very serious environmental/safety condition exists due to dry/hot conditions (as demonstrated by the very recent fire very nearby), how does a contract void that? It's UNSAFE! Well, for us, but not for them 100 ft over there at that camp site...what? It is at a bare minimum inconsistent and unfair - and it makes absolutely no sense. I would have been much less unhappy, but at least would have understood, would the rules have been applied evenly for all guests.
2. Why is a charcoal or propane fire OK when wood is not? Another inconsistency. If it's safe enough to use charcoal to cook, then how does a piece of wood in my fire change that (see #3 with camp host threats below)??
3. The camp host came rolling up on us in his truck and gave us a hard time, threatening us with big fines repeatedly. We had made a charcoal fire so we could cook our dinner. I had added *ONE* piece of hickory - to add flavor. We were trying to stay within their (ridiculous and unevenly applied) rules. It turns out one of the kids apparently threw a pinecone into the fire, and we did not realize it until this guy showed up and started reading us the business. He threatened us over and over with a $500 fine. Finally, said 'he'd let it go - this time only'. Very relaxing stay? Nope.
The wedding was obnoxiously loud. Lots of shouting and loud partying. If I had known this it would not be a problem - it would have been expected. They had a loud band and/or DJ that went from the afternoon until 10pm. So much for peace and quiet and 'getting away from it all' on our one night there. I guess if someone pays enough money, they can do anything they want, violating the sites' own rules on fire, safety and noise.
I would not have said a word about this since it's (sadly) common at any camp site. But after all I just mentioned above, it should be said that the site was dirty with lots of small pieces of trash - wrappers, bottle caps, plastic water bottle caps, shiny glittery stuff, pieces of metal - all throughout the site and forest nearby. I left with a half of bag full of trash because I just could not stand to see it. I was a bit surprised at this; for a place that 'so deeply cares about the forest' (according to their email), it seems they'd keep the place neater and more 'natural' since that's what they're apparently selling.
I, nor my friend I stayed with, nor anyone else we know will be staying here again.
