Hey lovebirds! I'm Shayna and I'm probably the girl you see walking around Downtown Oakland with too many tattoos, always a coffee in hand and a camera in the other. I'd like to think of myself as an adventurer, an avid meme lover, someone who prides myself on constantly trying to make my life look like a Pinterest board (still working on that one), and oh, of course- a wedding and elopement photographer! Your wedding is a HUGE day, but pretty minute compared to all the epic, love-filled days your marriage is about to bestow upon you. So...you're looking for those beautiful, stand-the-test-of-time photographs, obviously!? That is a given... but what I'm selling isn't just that-it's the whole experience. You deserve an expert, someone you feel comfortable around, a photographer who can give you the advice and knowledge to make your wedding day and photos be the absolute best they can be, right? Look no further, because I got your back. After all, every weekend of my life is spent celebrating love, so I should know a thing or two about making your wedding just that much better. Hiring me means being able to relax a little, knowing that everything is being taken care of. I'll be your favorite third wheel, and that my friend, is a promise. My shooting and editing style is consistent with being warm-toned, emotion driven and cinematic . Tradition will always be relevant, whether they be old or new, but more than anything, your day will be centered around the adventure that you and your partner are embarking on...love! and she didn’t even confirm or bother to communicate about the photo shoot for over a week. I had started to see a pattern of her not texting back soon, and I didn’t feel like I was a priority and basically there lack of customer service, but I wanted to give it a chance since I have made a deposit. So last Sunday I wrote her an email about our engagement shoot and I had no response, long story short I tried to make contact throughout the week and no response. By Thursday I decided to cancel my makeup and hair appointments and call her again, she did not answer. Finally I believe it was Thursday night she sent me an email stating she was sick, which is fine but as a business owner I let my client know the moment I know I won’t be able to preform what I have promised and what they paid for. I am utterly disappointed in the customer service and the handling of my time. The only good thing is that she sent back my deposit right away. Thank god I had spoken to another photographer who has been super tentative and excited to work with me and he had my date available.

I'm so sorry to hear about your experience with me. I do understand how frustrating it is to have no follow up. As I had explained, it wasn't me that was sick, but my daughter had been in and out of the hospital 3 times that week...
which made life incredibly hectic and was a pretty foreign/scary moment for me. That definitely made it difficult to respond, but I did not have any intention of cancelling our session, and have to this day never cancelled a session or wedding. I always want my clients to be my number one priority and I sincerely apologize that you did not get that experience. Still wish you all the best on your wedding day!

red stunning photos of my fiancé and I at Hippie Tree for our engagement photos. Her approach to photography is refreshing and innovative; you can feel the emotions when looking at her photos. It’s true artwork. And the way she plays with the lighting... it’s just outright talent. My fiancé and I are both pretty shy in front of the camera and have never had professional pictures taken before. Shayna made us feel so comfortable and talked us through all of her creative ideas. We’re not from the area and she suggested the perfect location. I HIGHLY recommend her. She’s brilliant and so lovely to work with. Hi! I'm Shayna, a freelance wedding + elopement photographer based out of Oakland, CA. I've been a photographer for about 7 years now and have fallen in love with all things surrounded with LOVE! I travel all over to shoot my couples and I wouldn't be complete without em'.
My style is photojournalistic and artistic. I want every session/wedding to look like a still from a film. When you book me, expect me to be your favorite spare tire. I love making long lasting connections with each and every couple I shoot.
