Hi, I’m Shayna (but feel free to call me Frank if that’s easier)! I’m a wedding and elopement photographer based in Oakland, California, and I specialize in capturing beautiful moments with a blend of digital and film photography.
My journey into photography began at a young age, surrounded by family who lived and breathed the craft. Both my Great-Grandpa and Grandpa were passionate film fanatics, with their own studios and darkrooms where they developed everything by hand. Their love for photography became my obsession, and I knew early on that I’d be telling stories through the lens for the rest of my life.
Over the years, I’ve explored every corner of the photography world, but my heart has always gravitated toward working with couples. To me, there’s nothing more beautiful than capturing the raw, real moments of two people in love. My style is rooted in photojournalism—focused on authentic, emotion-filled moments—but with a good dose of direction to ensure you feel confident and comfortable throughout the day. Think of it as a mix of candid, natural moments with a dash of editorial flair.
When you work with me, I want you to feel like you’re hanging out with a friend who just so happens to be a little too good with a camera. I believe the connection between you and your photographer is key to creating amazing images, and my goal is always to make you feel like you’re in trusting hands, surrounded by good vibes, and having fun while making memories.

y stressed about the photography aspect of our wedding (we both hate getting our photos taken) and Shayna completely put those anxieties to bed when she started shooting. She's directive, super funny, gives you easy to follow prompts, and just kept telling us how great the photos were throughout the entire process. She was not lying. I was crying tears of joy the second I opened our gallery. Whatever we imagined...she did it 10 times better. Also to anyone that this may apply to, if you have a big family and you're worried it's going to take up too much time getting those images finished..Shayna's got your back. She didn't make us move a muscle. We knocked those photos out in less than 15 minutes and she commanded the room. Besides golden hour and family photos, everything was captured authentically. I'd say it was 99% real moments and those were my favorite images!
I'm so grateful that I made the decision to have her be our photographer. I'll definitely be reaching out to her for any of our important life events from here on out.

uite of family group shots as much as we wanted to capture the emotions of the day (and the party that night). I honestly could not have asked for a better experience on the day of our wedding or during preparation! My job keeps me really busy during summer and fall, and I honestly probably shouldn't have tried to make an early November wedding happen, but Shayna's chill personality and obvious knowlege and experience made me feel so much more at ease. I never second guessed our choice. When she arrived the day of the wedding it felt like she was almost a calming presence, and I only say "almost” because family will be family no matter the day. She wrangled, she kept things moving, and most importantly she seemed to know exactly when to pull us away to have moments to breathe and enjoy being together. The preview photos are SO perfect and I can't wait to see how the rest have turned out! She not once felt like a typical vendor just doing her job but more of a friend who takes really amazing photos. Her approach to photography is refreshing and innovative; you can feel the emotions when looking at her photos. It’s true artwork. And the way she plays with the lighting... it’s just outright talent. My fiancé and I are both pretty shy in front of the camera and have never had professional pictures taken before.
