advanced-planning that led to this result that is so impressive. Ken is a seasoned professional, going beyond simply asking what songs the bride and groom did and did not want played. He set up multiple Zoom meetings to interview everyone until he truly understood how the bride and groom felt about each event of the night. Nothing was assumed (nor judged), and he was meticulous in noting all of their preferences. (Ex: how long do you want your special dances to last? do you want attention drawn to you for the cake-cutting? what titles do you prefer for each person during the introductions?) These details truly personalized the event. Our reception took place in multiple rooms in an historic thick-stoned barn, and Ken made multiple site visits in advance to test his equipment and technology to ensure he was properly prepared for the big day. In addition, the reaction from the venue's wedding coordinators at our first planning meeting was very reassuring: when they heard we were using Ken Schaffer, they were visibly pleased and knew that there would be no issues with communication, flow of the event, etc. I came to learn just how much the venue and DJ count on each other to keep the event moving smoothly, together coordinating the cocktail party, the introductions, first dances, meals, toasts, etc. etc. Ken was flawless. I cannot even count how many people commented to us how fun the music was, both at the reception and in a multitude of messages we received in the following days. The ages in our crowd ranged from 12-85 and all enjoyed Ken's craft. He was also able to seamlessly honor special music requests from our guests throughout the evening. The only complaint anyone had was how badly their feet hurt from dancing so much!

We knew we could find a DJ who would bring a laptop full of music, but I don't know that anyone would have prepared the way Ken did beginning on the day we booked him. On top of that, he made the room LOOK great as well. Not only did he provide tasteful up-lighting (which he ALSO spent hours preparing to make sure he did it exactly like my daughter saw it in her mind's eye) even his equipment and gear was designed with purpose to add to the overall look of the event. I simply can't find enough words to thank Ken for being such an important part of one of the most important days in my daughter's life. I not only offer my highest recommendation, I would go so far as to say that if you want a DJ for a wedding reception -- or ANY event where the entertainment matters -- and you DON'T hire Ken and his team, you're making a mistake.

Not only did he listen to our request but he went above and beyond what we were looking for. Our guests had the time of their lives at our reception and that was because of the music Ken played. My now husband and I never danced so much as we did at our reception and Ken is to thank for that. You will not be disappointed if you hire Ken to be your DJ. . I’ve been getting text messages all weekend saying how amazing he was and how great the music was. From a professional level I could not have been more impressed. The level of detail Ken put into this was incredible. Little things like going over how to pronounce each member of the bridal party’s name, specific songs to play during the dinner, special songs for the parents, genres of music that we might prefer, a breakdown of the ages of people at the wedding so he could tailor the music best to the crowd. People who are great at their job nail the details and that makes everything run smoothly. Ken does this. I like to think of myself as someone with serious music knowledge but Ken’s knowledge here blew me away and it really came in handy. eeting, he asked excellent questions and took notes so that he understood our guest list. From suggesting a way to honor our military guests, to making sure he got the older crowd up to dance and even suggesting a fun twist on the cake smash, he was the best choice for us. By the end of the evening, he felt like family. Our two families danced arm in arm in a big circle to the last song of the evening and Ken helped make that happen. I should also mention that we had a ceremony on the beach and then the reception was up the beach under a tent so he had two areas to set up in and never missed a beat.

From the ceremony and a lapel microphone, to the reception, to a photo booth (amazing hit!), to a video from family across the world who could not attend, to blending in music from our different nationalities / cultures, there was no detail that he did not think of and make exceptional! They say that the three things you never skimp on are comfortable shoes, a good mattress, and a wedding DJ. I now completely understand the third.
