We ended up picking Krumbs Cakes because the cake was light, not too dense, and not too sweet, which was perfect for our wedding dessert which also featured ice cream. The process was smooth for finalizing our order and payment (I would recommend calling them instead of emailing). Our two-flavor, three-tier buttercream cake was beautiful and decorated nicely with the flowers that our florist provided. The cake delivery was a little off schedule (being set up during dinner instead of during cocktail hour) but was ready by the time of our cake cutting. The cake was delicious!

The next thing that happens is you get married and, blammo, there is a beautiful cake ready to cut because Christian made sure it arrived in one piece, even though it was four tiers high and earlier that day traveled about 30 windy miles over bumpy roads. You will cut your cake, probably half drunk, and then eat some. Soon, people will tell you how beautiful your wedding was and some will mention the cake, the one Christian made as a professional and that you enjoyed. You will look back afterwards and see that the cake was the easiest part of your wedding planning but only because Christian pulled off what he pulled off, as a professional. So as a token of your thanks, you will write this: I highly recommend this man.

Full disclosure, my fiance and I weren't super picky about the exact details of the cake so that also helped our stress levels as we selected the cake last minute. I was able relay what generally we wanted the cake to look like based on pictures the website had and ones I had emailed Christian. It worked out really well. We are so glad we went with Christian and his bakery. Not only do they have a million choices for gluten cakes flavors (usually it's vanilla or chocolate), the cake tasted really great. Even 2 weeks after the wedding (yes, we ate the entire top layer). Krumbs Cakes delivered the cake on time and it was beautiful. The price point was I thought, very reasonable and . If I remember correctly, the GF cake cost the same as a regular cake. The process to order our wedding cake left us feeling like we were just ordering a typical not-gluten-free cake. We were really happy with our experience with Christian and Krumbs Cake. I strongly recommend, especially if you want to be hands off and let the experts take care of this detail of your busy day.

Our cake was so delicious and moist and the frosting was a tart lemon under the fondant ... so good! You can go wrong with Krumb Cakes!

exceed our expectations! We made sure to steal a little extra for ourselves and we’re sure glad we did! We couldn’t decide on one flavor, so owner Christian, let us choose two which only made the whole process even more fun! We chose lemon for the bottom tier and then got adventurous and chose cactus for the top tier. We fell in love with uniqueness of the sweet cactus flavor and it paired so perfectly with the lemon. Our cake was so light, fluffy, and a dream to eat! And Christian was so easy to communicate with, always responding to our inquiries right away. We will certainly return for birthday and anniversary cakes!

ith wanted to charge upwards of $1500 for a TARDIS cake for 80ish people. Christian suggested we do a traditional 3 level cake in our wedding theme, and then also the TARDIS cake. It worked out SO well, our total for both cakes cost half as much as other people we got estimates from for just the one. It was also so delicious that I received complements and comments about it for DAYS after from people on Facebook. The flavors we did were chocolate with blood orange filling, and sea salt caramel. They were so good! He did a really good job on the TARDIS, it looked great! And the peacock cake was gorgeous! We loved them both. Also, Christian is just a really nice person to work with. He made it easy and fun and I can't recommend him enough.

frankly, had cakes that were not delicious. We tasted cakes that were too sweet, too dense, too dry, and too boring. To be fair, we were looking for something that tasted like a wedding cake, and one vendor asked what we meant by that? We couldn't put it into words... something that we wanted to keep eating? Something that felt more special than an ordinary cake? But once we tasted Krumbs cakes, we knew that was it. My fiance also loved Kristian and thought he was so personable. His cakes were light, fluffy, and so delicious! He also has a ton of flavors, ranging from familiar flavors to unique ones like cactus. We went with "princess" flavor, and our guests loved it. For decorating the cake, after talking to so many vendors, I was kind of tired of describing what I envisioned so I told Kristian I didn't care and if we couldn't have something sparkly, it was fine. Luckily, he gently pushed me by asking questions and saying, "well it does sound like you want something sparkly, so let's make sure to keep that in there." He executed something beautiful and simple, and it was exactly what I didn't know I wanted. Bonus: he worked exactly within our budget and although it wasn't the biggest, he didn't make us feel cheap or awkward about it! Love Krumbs!

l and friendly. From our cake tasting it was apparent that he truly loves what he does. We sampled various types of cake from chocolate, to princess, to lemon and they were all fantastic! We ended up selecting princess cake and lemon cake for our wedding. My husband was so excited during the design process that I found myself a little anxious over what our cake would actually look like. Christian nailed it! It was not only beautiful, but tasted scrumptious. Everyone ate the whole cake (which I admit we were bummed about because we wanted to eat more later that night). Oh well, we will just be ordering a smaller version for our one year. On a side note, I also had Christian create my bridal shower cake. It was breathtakingly beautiful, and tasted even better! I cannot recommend Krumb Cakes enough! No other baker can compare.

He does AMAZING designs as well, all different colors, shapes, basically anything you want. And was also flexible with the price and options. We had a tight budget, so opted to do a smaller tiered cake, with more design and decorations, and then sheet cakes in the back for additional serving, which helped with the cost. We had a steampunk style cake, bronze color with gold and silver gears and key shapes and heart locket and it looked way better than we even expected. I also ordered a groom’s cake shaped like a camping trailer, I sent him a picture of our trailer and it looks identical! I was amazed how good it came out. He can do anything! AND it tastes good! He was also incredibly easy to work with and communicate with, quick to respond and flexible, definitely the best vendor I experienced out of all our wedding vendors.

The hardest part was choosing the cake because we liked everything we tried. The peanut butter/chocolate cake was by far the best cake I had every tasted! We went with a white cake with Lemon icing. I got tons of compliments from guests that it was one of the best wedding cakes they had tasted. It was so moist. My best friend who hates desserts ate her whole piece. Christian delivered the cake on time and was very quick in replying to emails and setting up a meeting time.

t lucky. Owner Christian Röder gave us a striking cake that was also just amazingly delicious (we did chocolate with a chocolate mint creme filling.) Beyond this we found Christian to be pleasant and responsive and generally just great to deal with. Highly recommended! Thank you!

o see him. I was stunned at how beautiful the cake looked when I saw it at the reception. The detail of the seashells and the waves was perfect. He is very reasonably priced. I found him to be alot less for a four tier cake than anyone in the Bay Area. The price is what drew me to meet with him, but once I tasted the cake I was hooked. It just melts and is the best cake I have ever eaten!

r the brave. our favorite was the very berry cake and the princess cake he made - really the best cake I had ever tasted. If you're near San Rafael, I urge you to TRY KRUMBS CAKE OUT! Seriously, best cakes ever and he's always up to the challenge of creating flavors that you love. Sadly, in the end we had to go with a different baker to cater to our asian guests, but I decided to order my husband a grooms cake from Krumbs cake. Well partly because he couldn't stop talking about the cake even till a week before his wedding! So this review is for the grooms cake. Christian helped me conceptualize the design for the cake, it was soccer-related, of course. And he had to make a little man kicking a ball too. I loved how he made sure the little details, like the name on the soccer jersey, the socks, the shoes - all perfect. The cake was delish too (we went with the very berry, yum)! My sister-in-law thinks the man looks like my husband too! But not just that, Christian goes beyond skill and art - because we didn't live in San Rafael, it was difficult for me to coordinate a time to meet with Christian to pay for the cake without my husband knowing. In the end he suggested just paying for the cake when he delivered it on the wedding day. Unfortunately on that day everything was so chaotic that I was unable to pass the payment to him, etc. But Christian left the cake anyway! We called him the Monday after the wedding before flying off for our honeymoon but he left us a message insisting that we enjoy our honeymoon and make the payment when we're back. That blew us away. Thank you Christian. You and that cake made my day, and it made the difference for us. You deserve that 5 stars and more!! Now I can't wait for my one-year anniversary ;)
