Do not trust Krumbs Cakes with a wedding! They failed to deliver our daughter’s wedding cake. Not late. Not damaged. Not delivered at all.
At 7:30 p.m. on the wedding day, while t...
he reception was still underway and guests were eating dinner, Carol emailed me admitting she had “completely forgot to deliver” the cake and that there was “no backup.” A wedding vendor entrusted with a once-in-a-lifetime event had no contingency plan and simply “forgot”. That’s hard to believe as less that 24 hours before the wedding we were communicating about the cake topper.
Krumbs made no attempt whatsoever to deliver the cake once the mistake was discovered, no question about whether delivery would still be useful, and no same-day solution of any kind offered. The email consisted only of an apology and a mention of a refund…while the wedding was actively happening.
The following morning, Carol emailed asking whether she should deliver the cake. By then, we were already leaving town, and the wedding was over. That offer came too late to matter, and it underscores the complete lack of urgency shown the night before, when delivery could still have mitigated the damage.
For a wedding business, forgetting a wedding cake delivery, having no backup plan, and failing to act once the error is discovered is not a small mistake…it’s a failure resulting from negligence and complete incompetence.
Anyone considering Krumbs Cakes for an important event like a wedding should understand that this is a vendor that forgets about wedding cake deliveries and has no system in place to prevent that from happening or contingencies for emergency situations. If you’re okay with that…order away!

On the big day, the cake arrived on time and was beautifully presented. Despite the warm weather, it held up wonderfully, and our florist added fresh flowers that made it even more stunning. Not only was it gorgeous, but it also tasted as amazing as we remembered from the tasting—our guests couldn’t stop raving about it!

Christian rolled out the red carpet for us and took time and care to walk us through our tasting, and provided extremely helpful advice regarding wedding cake decisions. He even gave me the idea for our vintage cake topper! The wedding cake was European style, so the frosting was as light as a cloud and not too sweet. The fillings (lemon, pink champagne, lingonberry) were divine. I had never had anything like them before. Honestly our wedding cake was one of my most beloved aspects of our wedding. All of the guests raved about it. The florist assisted with decorating it with flowers and created the acrylic stand. Christian even offered to make us a 1 year anniversary cake since freezer cake never tastes good. I cannot wait to order another cake from Krumbs for a special occasion! The colors did end up being wrong the day of, because I requested a green color on the lower portion of the bottom tier with a silver band. We ended up getting a black color and gold band. The day of it was such a huge deal but having the colors I requested would have been nice. But to be honest, this was such an insanely good gluten free cake that I couldn’t be too upset about the colors. I have *never* had a gluten free cake that good in my life. The icing wasn’t too light or too heavy, and the flavors were so well balanced that I had to take a second to pause when I took my first bite. If I could order one have Krumbs cakes ship me a cake for my birthday every year I absolutely would.

We drove nearly 2.5 hours to the shop and were met with several DELICIOUS flavors to try. The cake was so moist and flavorful and it wasn't sickeningly sweet. We chose four flavors: cactus (THE BEST DECISION), chocolate and kahlua, chocolate and peanut butter, and sea salt caramel. Christian promised he could make our cake and we left feeling relieved and excited to have a cake for 80 (our guest total was 125 but we knew not everyone wanted cake). We paid $900 for our cake including delivery and "rebuilding" as our cake was transported in pieces so it survived the ride to our venue. Even though he got stuck in traffic because it was Pumpkin Fest weekend in Half Moon Bay and he was later than scheduled, the cake arrived and was set up beautifully. Everyone raved about the flavors and we had next to none left over. It was a smooth transaction from start to finish and we're definitely going to order from him again even though we live in Hollister. Thank you for a wonderful cake experience!

His passion for baking and delivering a great product was evident throughout the tasting. He was honest with us about what works and what is popular from his experience. We ended up picking Krumbs Cakes because the cake was light, not too dense, and not too sweet, which was perfect for our wedding dessert which also featured ice cream.
The process was smooth for finalizing our order and payment (I would recommend calling them instead of emailing). Our two-flavor, three-tier buttercream cake was beautiful and decorated nicely with the flowers that our florist provided. The next thing that happens is you get married and, blammo, there is a beautiful cake ready to cut because Christian made sure it arrived in one piece, even though it was four tiers high and earlier that day traveled about 30 windy miles over bumpy roads. You will cut your cake, probably half drunk, and then eat some. Soon, people will tell you how beautiful your wedding was and some will mention the cake, the one Christian made as a professional and that you enjoyed. You will look back afterwards and see that the cake was the easiest part of your wedding planning but only because Christian pulled off what he pulled off, as a professional. So as a token of your thanks, you will write this: I highly recommend this man.

The tasting was very personal, and he had a lot of good tips for wedding planning and vendors. We also changed the size of the cake probably 4 times, and he was very patient with us. Full disclosure, my fiance and I weren't super picky about the exact details of the cake so that also helped our stress levels as we selected the cake last minute. I was able relay what generally we wanted the cake to look like based on pictures the website had and ones I had emailed Christian. It worked out really well.
We are so glad we went with Christian and his bakery. Not only do they have a million choices for gluten cakes flavors (usually it's vanilla or chocolate), the cake tasted really great. Even 2 weeks after the wedding (yes, we ate the entire top layer). Krumbs Cakes delivered the cake on time and it was beautiful. The price point was I thought, very reasonable and . If I remember correctly, the GF cake cost the same as a regular cake. The process to order our wedding cake left us feeling like we were just ordering a typical not-gluten-free cake.
