We booked Lily & Lime for photography and videography after being drawn to their great reviews, awards on The Knot, and reasonable pricing. They also offered periodic discounts and... a $200 print credit at booking, which made the decision feel ideal.
When reserving our date, we were able to choose our lead photographer and selected Jason Cun based on his portfolio. However, we were not able to choose our assistant photographer or videographer and were told their styles would align with Jason’s. We were informed we couldn’t speak to the team until the week of the wedding, which in hindsight, should have raised concerns. The week of our wedding, both Jason and our videographer Allen Voss contacted us to review our detailed schedule we filled out on Lily & Lime’s customer portal. They assured us they understood our expectations, leaving us optimistic for our wedding day.
Unfortunately, our photography experience didn't reflect what was promised. Despite submitting a clear schedule, several photo requests were missed or altered without notice. Given the chaos of the day and our open golf course venue, we assumed some flexibility was needed but expected better communication from the team. My bridesmaids and I didn't have "getting ready" photos taken, and pre-ceremony family portraits were also skipped without explanation. After the ceremony, pictures went more smoothly, and we assumed that Jason and Michelle had synced up on the schedule. Allen appeared attentive all evening and kept us informed, which we truly appreciated. At the end of the night, Jason told us that all editing was handled by Lily & Lime. We weren't aware of this, since we selected him specifically for his editing style. He said that to receive his edits, we'd have to pay an extra fee. Since we were unsure if this was true, we told Jason we'll reach out if needed.
When we received our photos, we were extremely disappointed. The editing style was starkly different from Jason’s—most images were overexposed, washing out skin tones and removing the natural warmth of our outdoor setting. Lily & Lime confirmed their team handled all editing and followed a standard style. It was frustrating to learn this afterwards, as photographer selection apparently didn't matter at all. We felt that this was deceptive, and requested a copy of the signed contract since we didn't recall this detail being mentioned. Lily & Lime said they couldn't provide a copy because our booking was completed online—even though that's the only way to book. To try to alleviate our disappointment, they offered to edit 50 photos free of charge. But after submitting a small batch, the extra adjustments made little difference.
In an effort to salvage our collection, we reached out to Jason directly to request paid edits. After an initial response, he became unresponsive to emails, texts, and calls, which we found very unprofessional. Reviewing our gallery, we also noticed that very few detail photos of our décor, flowers, or ceremony setup were captured, and those that were had poor angles or lighting.
While our videos turned out lovely—and Allen’s professionalism deserves recognition—the photography experience left us deeply disappointed. In our opinion, Lily & Lime was not worth the affordable price, as it appears they operate more as a contractor-based network than a cohesive creative team. If you decide to book with them, just know that it's a complete gamble with the photographer(s) capturing your vision.
