When we met with him to figure out the details I was initially thinking, “how complicated can this be we just say ‘I do’ and that’s that” but the man came with OPTIONS and I learned then how wedding ceremonies are not one-size-fits-all and for that I am so grateful. I’m not an especially romantic person- I was convinced my husband would be the one to cry at the altar- but when the ceremony suits you so well, things change and it’s a good thing I had waterproof mascara. And honestly what other officiant will roll up to your wedding with a McDonald’s manager tie in his pocket just in case you want him to wear it? (Spoiler- we did.) Truly our wedding would not have been the same if we didn’t have Dave to help set the tone. Put your trust in him, you will not be let down.

English teacher, he was meant to be our officiant. His unique templates helped us compose a ceremony that was very personalized. It just added to the intimacy of the day. We had rain, a malfunctioning microphone and few other major problems show up on our wedding day and he adapted to everything with grace. You would have thought that nothing was awry. He is so fun to be around and his presence calmed our nerves during the readings. We received endless compliments on our ceremony and since this was one of the most important parts to us, we are indebted to him. He also makes things like filing your marriage license easy. hen I got to connect with Dave. After reaching out to Dave on The Knot, he was (thank god) available for our wedding day. And he was immediate in his responses and incredibly enthusiastic. We decided to set up a meeting for later that same week and upon meeting him, we knew we'd made the right choice. Dave was immediately energetic, personable, and charismatic and we knew he'd be the best person to officiate our ceremony. In that first meeting, he broke everything down for us in a really clear and easy-to-understand way that made all of my nerves and fears dissipate. I just KNEW we were in good hands. My fiance and I aren't very religious and tend to be pretty chill. We wanted a short and sweet ceremony and Dave delivered exactly that for us. He matched the vibe we wanted to a tee! After that meeting, he kept us up-to-date and informed on the script and progress and I never worried. I was able to just show up on wedding day and everything went as planned. It was a beautiful ceremony with laughs and happy tears and Dave really made it all come together. I cannot thank him enough!

The best part is that he did all of this through just one highly enjoyable, brief, in person coffee session and a phone call run-through the week before the event. For us, the knowledge that things were "taken care of" allowed us to focus on the other moving pieces of planning the event. That being said, any question or update I had for Dave, was responded to immediately and I always felt that he was actively involved in our planning process. He anticipated our preferences and needs in a way that really showed how perfect he is in this role. We are actively working on coming up with excuses to work with Dave again!

Anyways, in our meetings we went over a typical wedding format and he walked us through each piece and tried to help us figure out what we wanted and didn’t want. Once we paired it down to our final options, he creates a google doc and shares it with you so you can be a part of the process, I loved that! As the months went by, we kept tinkering away and adding things and removing things. Having the ceremony was so great because I got to print out copies to share with our readers and family beforehand. On the day of Dave was professional and our ceremony was just what we wanted! Then he took care of the marriage license and we had no issues at all. Highly recommend Dave if you are looking for someone down to earth and easy to work with and if you want to be a part of the process! He does all kinds of ceremonies from religious to non traditional.
