wanted, made sure I found a dress that I absolutely loved and made me feel beautiful. I have nothing but amazing things to say about her. Picking up my dress felt like I had walked into a completely different store. I had made an appointment to pick up my dress about 2 weeks prior and made sure it was a time that my mother could come with me to watch me try it on again. When I arrived at the shop, I was greeted by a younger woman who once I had told her I had an appointment said “oh, I thought you were going to say you were a walk in, and we don’t take those.” Which made me feel quite awkward but I let it go. After a few minutes, she came back and handed me my dress in a bag and said “you’re all set.” She didn’t show it to me and when I asked to try it on, she informed me that I did not schedule the “correct” type of appointment and she had another bride coming in shortly (the store was empty at this time). I informed her that I was not comfortable leaving with my dress without trying it on and making sure there was nothing wrong with it which was met with “well, it’s final sale anyways.” As if it’s a discount dress from the Macys clearance rack and that it’s too bad if it was ripped or had buttons missing. I told her that I would be quick and just want to try it on to be sure and even offered to come back later in the day if there was a better time but she insisted that I could not try it and made it very clear that I was inconveniencing her despite the shop being empty. After a lot of back and forth, she went into the back room to make a phone call and came back saying I could try it on. We went into a dressing room where she helped me slip it on. After some awkward stares, I asked if I could look at it in the big mirror instead of the small changing room mirror to which she reluctantly agreed. While it was on, she made no attempt to reassure me that I made a good choice or that the dress was beautiful. When my mother asked when a good timeframe would be to reach out to a tailor, the answer received was “I don’t know her schedule.” Once I confirmed that there were no imperfections with the dress (which honestly I only had maybe a minute to look it over) I took it off, the dress was bagged up and we were gone before the next bride had even arrived. The impression I got from this experience was “well, we got your money already so just take it.” The following week, my mother had called the shop to inform them about our negative experience and the owner seemed displeased with this employees behavior and had said she was going to contact me. It has now been over 3 weeks and I have not heard from her. What should’ve been an exciting and special moment, left me feeling discouraged and with a sour taste in my mouth.
