Planning is super easy with our online portal and Wedding Planner! Everything we do is secure and digital-- even our contract. The communication with the company as a whole could have been better, especially when we were getting closer to the day itself. Overall, we were very happy with our DJ.

the wedding) for Barry. We were promised Barry would be our DJ. We were promised live singing for our first dance (and even chose a first dance song because of Barry), we were promised live singing for all of our dinner songs. Empty promises!
I reached out to the company 3 months prior to confirm everything. Terrible communication. It was crickets for weeks, until we received an email with the name Co as our DJ. We were never told that Barry wasn't our DJ, and when I asked what happened to Barry, crickets again. My family/friends and I went on a deep search through Google to find Barry's cell number and contacted him directly because the company was useless. Barry informed us he sold the company and gave us the number to best contact the company, which we had already called multiple times previously with no call back. We debated breaking the contract and forgoing the deposit because we only booked this company for Barry / the live singing and liked other DJ companies more, but knew it was too close to our wedding day to find someone decent. This was extremely stressful as there are a million vendors/moving parts/other things to worry about and this company was very unresponsive, especially so close to the wedding day itself.
We then asked to meet with our new DJ (Co), and things got better. Co gave us his cell number and met with us twice to go through everything. He was able to set everything up on time. My only negatives (to give Co a 4 and not a 5) are that every guest missed our cake cutting because it wasn't announced (we had a LOT of guests come up after it was done asking us when we did the cake cutting and were very upset they didn't get to watch), the anniversary dance we were supposed to do wasn't done (another disappointment), and about half of our 'must play' songs and a few dinner songs were missed (that guests were looking forward to, along with myself/my husband). Regardless, he was able to read the room and have everyone up/dancing. We had many people come up and comment how they have never seen EVERYONE at a wedding (old and young) up and dancing. ith this company specifically for the owner - Barry. Shortly after booking, emails and phone calls went unanswered. We found out through the grapevine that Barry had left and sold the company to someone else. No one ever reached out to tell us this or explain anything. For a long time, we were panicked that we wouldn’t have a DJ. We started considering breaking our contract and trying to book with someone else. It finally took me emailing them that I was considering breaking contract for someone to finally answer me. I asked for a meeting with our specific DJ- and from there, things vastly improved. DJ Co gave us his personal number and met with us a couple more times to ensure everything was perfect. And it was! If I can give Co a separate review it would be 10/10. Great DJ, reads the room, played absolute bangers and people were on the dance floor all night long!!

per particular with music and had been creating a Playlist for years (even before we were actually engaged lol) and desired a certain vibe (we wanted a lot of classic rock, a few metal songs to jump around to, but also dance music) so we were very thorough when choosing our DJ. Two months before my wedding I reach out to Barry just to get something scheduled for a final meeting, and I'm met with an email stating i was being given a new DJ my wedding. Obviously this threw me off, but I just hoped everything with him was okay, accepted it and moved on, no big deal. The issue came with the communication. Weeks went by and no one reached out to me. I would email and call, and be met with no response. Then, the website was taken down which completely freaked me out. Two weeks until my wedding and I had not spoken to my new DJ, and legit thought we were going to get ghosted. I was SO stressed out and anxious. Literally a phone call or email would have been fine, but complete silence. Finally, after yet another email, i received a response one week away from my wedding and we were able to schedule a meeting.. our replacement DJ was very nice and knowledgeabe and we were looking forward to working with him. The day of the wedding, we were told the monogram machine was broken so they would not be able to provide that service. He stated I would be refunded for it. Fine, not a big deal. My wedding was in October, I was only just refunded for our monogram we didn't receive in December after sending several emails and texts. If the communication wasn't as bad as it was, and I wasn't scared and super anxious days leading up to my wedding that we weren't going to have music (our backup plan was a Playlist i was beginning to create as we couldn't afford to hire anyone else worst case senerio) then the rating would be better, because the DJ service overall was good. We looked at other reviews during this time period that were indicating the same issues with communication. Hopefully this is something that's sorted out by this point, because sound machine seems to be a very talented company!

ot married a month ago and I am still getting compliments on how much fun everyone had. Barry was very professional on our meet and greet phone call, and the user-friendly portal for my song choices made everything very easy to organize and keep track of. Jared was my DJ and words cannot express how amazing he was. He played all of my requests and his additions went perfectly with the vibe. The dance floor was never empty. He went above and beyond and saved the day when my venue tried to throw away a handmade gift, and even shipped it to me because I was on my Honeymoon and could not go pick it up. If you are looking for a quality company that listens to you and understands the vision you have for your wedding, then NJ Sound Machine is where it's at. When I reached out to Matt a few days before the wedding he advised me he was no longer my DJ and to talk to management. Every time I reached out with questions he was quick to respond, reliable, and was always incredibly helpful. The day of our reception, Barry and his assistant Val showed up several hours early to set up and make sure everything was in place and ready to go. Barry and Val were completely fantastic from beginning to end MC’ing and DJ’ing - the dance floor was packed all night! Once the music started, everyone was dancing, and by the time we had to wrap up, no one wanted to leave. Barry had the perfect flow of music and knew exactly what to play to get our crew going. The MOST SPECIAL thing though was having Barry sing during dinner - if you have an opportunity to have Barry sing at some point during your night, ABSOLUTELY DO SO! Barry uses a Wedding Planner that is thorough, yet easy to use. Before we talked with him, there were some things that we didn't realize we had to plan. Barry made sure that we covered all our bases, crossed all our i's, dotted all our t's.
During our special day, we never had to worry about anything. Barry took care of all the announcements, music, audio-visual-related aspects, etc. He even helped us to set up a Youtube livestream from our personal laptop, which was not part of the original plan!
All in all, Barry and his team are extremely professional, personable, and clearly an expert at what they do. From my experience, whatever we wanted Barry to do, he found a way to do it, and more. 10/10 would recommend to ANYONE looking for a stellar DJ team in the NJ area!!!

But when we got in touch with Barry, he seemed like a regular guy - he didn't push any deals on us or pressure us into working with him. We went with Barry because he gave us the biggest bang for our buck. He had a beautiful, sleek photobooth set up, uplighting, monogram, and he sang live during dinner. He was SO good that some people didn't think he was singing - they thought Michael Buble was playing through the speakers! He played wonderful music - everyone was up on the dance floor the entire night. One of my guests told me that, in thirty years, he never danced at weddings but he danced the entire night at ours because of the music Barry played. His attendant was also really great. The online Wedding Planning portal he gave us made it super convenient to enter our songs and details and saved alot of time and was stress free. On the day of our Wedding, Barry was fun, energetic, and had the crowd dancing all the way from Cocktail hour to the last song of the night. Every song he played was right up our alley and he played a variety of fun music all night. Our Wedding was on a Thursday night abd Barry made it feel like a Saturday night! incredibly easy to work with. He was efficient and communicated well, offering ideas to enhance our wedding and make it personalized just for us and for our individual tastes. Unfortunately, as life happens, Barry was unable to perform the DJ services for our wedding as planned, yet he never skipped a beat. Barry informed us of the issue immediately and offered a solution by introducing us to a friend and colleague who took over. It was a flawless transition and Matt, the other DJ, proved to be just wonderful!! When we had our zoom meeting with Matt, his enthusiasm and his love for music was obvious. ways. Our pandemic wedding was small and intimate. The music and audio were perfect in the park. Barry seamlessly transitioned to the restaurant reception a short walk away so that guests walked into a chill cocktail hour atmosphere. One of our favorite parts of the night was when Barry sang for about an hour during dinner. His voice was so incredible that some guests thought he was lip syncing! We are honestly still getting compliments from our guests about Barry, his voice, and his sharp looks! Barry was able to read the crowd and play the best music to keep the energy of the night high.
