I am sad to be writing this the day after our wedding when we should be the absolute happiest. I wanted someone that would be able to do it all and allow us to just focus on gettin...g married. Bonnie offers a 3 month coordinator package which is what we chose. She made a very detailed timeline and was in communication with our vendors. The venue was set up nicely the day of the wedding.
Now for the negatives. I am so embarrassed and disgusted with how Bonnie treated myself, my family, our friends, our vendors and the venue staff. When we had our venue tour with the DJ and Iowa Taproom coordinator, she was completely out of line with how she talked to them, above them, and about them. She pretty much verbally attacked my DJ and treated him like a child. She would not hear any suggestions that were not hers and would shush us or talk over people. I should NEVER as a bride have to apologize to staff and vendors for how a PROFESSIONAL is treating them. I was so embarrassed and became even more stressed out about the wedding.
Fast forward two days and we are now at the rehearsal. I had warned my family and friends about Bonnie's tone and demeanor. It is one thing to be in charge and another to steamroll over anyone, including the bride, when it comes to suggestions. I had to tell my maid of honor to back me up and speak up for me because, again, as a BRIDE I should not be put in that position. She shushed my 70 year old GRANDMOTHER, yelled at the KIDS, and was disrespectful when MY WEDDING PARTY was trying to talk to us as the BRIDE AND GROOM. Once she left the rehearsal, we once again had to apologize to everyone for her tone and behavior. NOBODY felt comfortable and quite frankly, everyone was pissed for us.
Fast forward to the next day, our WEDDING DAY. She got everything set up, a positive. I thought maybe, just maybe, things would turn around. And like we were shown many times, it blew up in our faces. Mind you we got married in a damn blizzard so stress is already high, the last thing I need is my HIRED STAFF to not fulfill their job. Once the wedding reception started and guests ate, I am not sure how much she even moved from her chair scrolling on her phone. I had to walk over, again as the BRIDE, or have my husband/maid of honor go and talk to the DJ, talk to Bonnie, and get things going.
AS PER HER OWN HANDOUT OF RESPONSIBILITES,
- Work with bride and groom to manage cutting cake, first dance, parents dance, and toasts. Cue the DJ/Band as to when to make announcements for each event. Cue speeches.
Let me just start here. we were a little late from pictures because we had to truck through a blizzard to get to the capitol. Pictures are one of the most important parts so I will never apologize for that. She never talked to us. Never said "are we ready for the first dance" or "lets cue the DJ". My husband and I had to walk up and tell the DJ we were ready. This is against the responsibility she set. None of this bullet point was done and it caused confusion, frustration, annoyance, and just lack of belief in who I PAID to do their job.
-Remain easily accessible through the entire evening in case there are any details the bride and groom would like attended to
- For giggles lets just say that a chair at a table scrolling videos on your phone is "accessible". I imagine a hired professional in charge of literally running the day should be constantly moving around, checking with the DJ, checking with the couple but NOPE.
