My husband and I had our wedding at the Phx Art Museum 2 weeks ago (March 2023) and it was the best decision we could have made for our big day! They have an amazing event speciali...
st, Rachel Hawthorne, that was so much fun to work with! She is an expert at what she does and made our experience planning the wedding at the museum so fun and individualized to us! We highly recommend hosting a large event at the museum, you're in great hands with Rachel and her team!
We knew as soon as we walked in that this would be our venue. Our Sales Manager was Cori Souza and she was so sweet and helpful. The best part about renting the Art Museum was yo...
u can choose up until the very last minute where you want to do your ceremony. We shared with Cori that we had a few slide shows and she came up with an idea to go to a completely empty room and project them on the walls. So our pictures were our own art in the Art Museum. Everyone is also allowed to tour the museum, which our guests really enjoyed. The best thing about this venue is there is contemporary art on the walls so we did not have to think much about themes, colors, decorations. Also loved that we had both indoor and outdoor space. It was a beautiful evening!
The event coordinator at the Phoenix Art Museum double booked our wedding date. She didn't even have the decency to call us and inform us of the mistake, she sent me an e-mail inst...
ead. We were told that we would have to choose a different date even though we had already signed a contract for the date we had agreed on. We were given very few options for other dates and two of the dates they offered had a hold on them by the same couple trying to decide between the two, so we couldn't be guaranteed either one. I was very disappointed in how they handled the situation and their lack of customer service. We ended up choosing a different venue because they kept us waiting regarding whether or not we could switch our date. I would only recommend the Phoenix Art Museum if you are very flexible with your wedding date.
The Phoenix Art Museum is a beautiful and unique venue. It is also expensive and difficult to work with. Lots of little hiccups came up on the wedding day - be sure to read the con...
tract they give you VERY carefully.
The Phoenix Art Museum is a fabulous place to get married. You can have your ceremony in the courtyard, in the modern art gallery (which is what we did), in the front lobby, or on ...
the front steps by the fountain. They have an enormous hall for the reception.
Pros:
- It has that modern, not-at-all Southwest feel that my husband and I were looking for.
- They do a couple of weddings a year, so they know what they're doing, but they aren't simply a wedding factory. None of our guests had ever been to a wedding there, so it felt unique and special.
- There are so many amazing locations for individual, couple, and group photos.
- The event managers, Heather and Jackie, were great. They got back to me quickly when I had a question; they included my husband in the process; they were professional and friendly; they thought of the little details that helped everything flow seamlessly.
- If you have your ceremony in the gallery, as we did, there's a big staircase for a dramatic entrance.
- You can have your ceremony and reception in the same place, so your guests don't have to spend time traveling.
- The guys' ready room is behind a secret sliding wall. My husband got a kick out of that.
Cons:
- It's $500 for the ceremony and $4,500 for the reception, so it's a little pricey.
- You have to use their bartender, ARTenders, so you don't have much flexibility to keep alcohol costs down.
- You have to use one of their preferred caterers, but they have a long list. We went with Santa Barbara Catering, and they were fabulous.
- The marble floor can get a little uncomfortable for dancing in heels. We put out a bunch of flip flops in a variety of colors and sizes (labeled "Sandals of Relief"), which were a big hit.
- The ladies' ready room isn't that attractive for the getting ready photos.
- When you're doing walk-throughs and meeting with vendors, you have to pay $10 admission, but they're free on Wednesdays.
Overall, we are so very happy we got married at the Phoenix Art Museum. I would definitely recommend it to anyone looking for a unique, beautiful wedding location.
Amazing, beautiful and unique.
I absolutely loved using the Phoenix Art Museum for our wedding ceremony and reception site. We got married deep in the museum and it was absolutely perfect! We then used the mai...
n entrance for our cocktail party and the great hall for our reception (weather wasn't permitting anything outdoors). Everything went smoothly the day of the wedding as well. That all being said, I don't think any of that would have happened if we had remained with our original coordinator-who left a month before our wedding on maternity leave. We then started working with Heather and discovered all sorts of options and realized how communication should have been happening the entire time. It was a night and day difference. For a while, I had been regretting using the Phoenix Art Museum, but all that changed when we started working with Heather. If you are going to use this venue, I would only recommend working with Heather! She is on the ball, provides fabulous ideas, and is extremely organized. Working with anyone else has the potential to be a really big headache and cause unneeded frustration. One major disappointment was that if you use a caterer not on the preferred list, they charge you $1250-which we were not told about until 2 months before the wedding! But again, that was with the other coordinator.
My husband and I are both designers and the Phoenix Art Museum has so many modern elements from form and structure to details and finishes. So many great backdrops for pictures an...
d many places to choose from for our ceremony and reception location within the facility. They were also very generous and allowed us to use anything they had on hand for no additional cost!
