About this vendor
Based in Seattle, WA, Seattle String Quartet is a live music band that performs at weddings and special events. This ensemble offers classical harmonies and joyful dance tracks to delight and inspire couples and guests alike. They are willing to travel for performances, serving the Pacific Northwest and Washington areas.
The group is comprised of several professional musicians. Many are university graduates who have been formally educated in music, or have taught at universities themselves. Each member of the group has performed on stage as a part of renowned orchestras such as the Singapore Symphony and the Northwest Symphony Orchestra. This group was founded in 1999, and since performed at thousands of private events, entertaining and enchanting listeners.
Couples who hire the Seattle String Quartet can expect to work with consummate professionals. The artists will dress appropriately for the occasion, as they would for an onstage symphony. They also will aim to arrive at the venue early to ensure that the setup is completed for the performance. Those who are not familiar with classical music will also have a source of support throughout the planning process. Barbara Spadavecchia, who also plays the viola and violin for the group, is happy to guide newlyweds-to-be in choosing music for the event.
This ensemble can perform at both ceremonies and receptions, including the cocktail hour if requested. They can also be available for pre-nuptial events, such as the rehearsal dinner. Depending on musical preferences, the couple has the option of a string quartet or a harp quartet. For those who are hosting a more grandiose event, this band can offer the services of a string octet. For smaller, more intimate occasions, the company can offer the services of a harp soloist or duo to serenade the couple down the aisle.

Seattle String Quartet (Harp Trio) performed at our wedding and were amazing! They were very easy to work with and very communicative, one of our best wedding vendors to work with,...
that had zero issues. Their prices are extremely reasonable for the excellent performance they provide. Definitely worth our money and we will be recommending them to all our friends and family that have upcoming weddings. The Harp Trio sounded amazing and was exactly what we envisioned for our wedding ceremony and reception.
The Seattle String Quartet played our ceremony and our cocktail hour and we couldn't be happier. We had so many compliments on the live music that spanned tastes from classical to ...
pop to the niche nerdy interest of us (the bride and groom) who chose Star Wars, Princess Bride, and LOTR songs for the ceremony. If you are considering music for your guests, hire them! They are so talented and the pricing can't be beat.
We hired Seattle String Quartet for our wedding, and it was wonderful. These professionals know what they're doing and were able to work with us to lead hymns as well as play their...
more typical music. We're grateful for their flexibility and their beautiful performance!
The musicians were professional and played beautifully, but unfortunately, they were very disorganized.
It was quite difficult to get in touch with them before the wedding.

been communicating with Barbara, but at first, we didn’t hear back from her for months. It got to the point where we started looking for other musicians, but eventually, she did respond.
Before the wedding, I sent a detailed outline clearly explaining when each song should be played. I was told everything was understood. I specifically asked that, after we were officially pronounced husband and wife, they begin playing a particular song as we walked down the aisle.
They did play it a few times, but never at the right moment.
Our ceremony wasn’t in English, so I understand it might have been a little confusing — which is why I clearly wrote in the email: please start playing when we begin walking down the aisle.
Instead, they played during the prayer or while the pastor was speaking. But at the actual moment — when we were walking down the aisle and our guests were showering us with rose petals — there was silence.
Some of our guests even mentioned that the musicians asked them a lot of questions during the wedding, including things like when to play which song, even though I had written everything out clearly in an email.
So overall — as musicians, they’re talented, but very disorganized.
It was upsetting to hear that some of our guests were put on the spot and stressed out by these questions, because they didn’t know how to respond.
Some of the questions were understandable, but others had already been discussed. And even if something was unclear, it could have been addressed before the wedding — we would’ve been happy to go over everything again.
They even approached the groom on the wedding day and asked whether he preferred more pop or classical music. He said classical, thinking that’s what I wanted — but actually, I was hoping for more pop music.
So my question is: why wasn’t this clarified ahead of time?
My main point is that for many couples, it’s their first time getting married — they can’t anticipate every question or situation.
Instead of asking guests during the ceremony, it would be much better to meet with the bride and groom beforehand to go over everything, or to send a list of questions in advance so the couple can respond in writing and everything can be prepared ahead of time.
Note: my communications were with Barbara via email

ld need to draw up a contract.
After no follow up, I reached a month later and received response saying that the contract was still in the works.
A month before my wedding, I emailed again just to double check and have since heard nothing.
Not sure of their skills or service, but communication was very much lacking.
They did a great job and I got so many compliments on the music during the ceramony.
We loved working with the Seattle String Quartet! The music was beautiful and exactly what we requested. We had the harp quartet come, and we are so happy we did.
The performers for our wedding were excellent. They were on time, played our non-traditional songs beautifully, and they worked well with our coordinators. The emailing process fel...
t a little difficult at first, but each time I spoke on the phone to the person in charge of organizing everything, it was very easy and pleasant, so I think emailing just sometimes is weird when you don't have a feel for a person you haven't met yet! Everything ultimately came together beautifully and we would absolutely hire them again for an event.
I am so, so glad we hired the harp trio to play our wedding ceremony. They had a beautiful selection of music before the ceremony, and were able to accommodate the specific song re...
quests we had for our processional, recessional, and bridal entrance. I will always remember how it felt to walk down the aisle to gorgeous harp music and highly recommend to anyone!

, flawless, and very professional! Our guests loved their performance so much and their music made everything so different! I look forward to working with them for other events in the future. High recommend!
Our string trio did amazing, and has such a large song bank full of classics as well as modern covers. The transitions were flawless, and they were able to deliver on the cues I se...
nt them over email without even seeing in person how we wanted our ceremony structured. I definitely put a lot of trust in the Seattle String Quartet since I didn't ever meet with them or see them play at a different event due to being an out of town bride, but even with limited communication, they seriously delivered! Couldn't imagine my ceremony without them!
Absolutely amazing couple of musicians. They were a wonderful addition to our day and played all of the songs I suggested. I had multiple guests thank us for the beautiful music.

rk with. I greatly enjoyed working with Seattle String and hope to again soon!
I only wish we had our duo play longer than they did! We hired a duo of violin and cello for our ceremony music, and they did a great job. We were able to hear the pre-ceremony mus...
ic from the green room, and then the ceremony music itself was beautiful. Our interaction with Elaine, from booking to the days leading up to the ceremony, went very smoothly!
As a former violin player, I really wanted to have a violin-cello duo for our wedding and I had some very particular song choices in mind. I spent hours listening to samples from d...
ifferent string groups around the Puget Sound, and we ended up hiring the Seattle String Duo due to a combination of fair, straightforward pricing and their sound samples sounded the best (in tune, the right tempo, etc.). Even though their pricing changed between my initial inquiry and when I formally hired them, they were so kind as to honor the initial estimate.
I worked with Elaine and Jan ahead of time on logistics and song selections and they were very friendly and willing to accommodate, without an extra charge, the specific selections I had in mind, even though it wasn't listed as part of their normal repertoire. Elaine gave me the best advice too-- to make sure to wait a few seconds before making my grand entrance as the bride. :-)
Day of, Barb and Jim played our ceremony and cocktail hour and they were absolutely amazing. Their years of professional experience shone through as they played selections ranging from classical to pop/rock to Disney (our genre choices), which contributed to an elegant atmosphere to our ceremony and cocktail hour.
If you're looking for a string group, don't do what I did and waste a lot of time listening to endless sound samples-- just hire the Seattle String Quartet!
My wife and I were so very happy with Jan and the string quartet. We asked them to play “Titanium" and "Just Like Heaven" and they jumped on learning the sheet music and played the...

ul when they delivered on playing a few non-traditional songs like Beatles and even Foo Fighters for the Groom's entrance! They were adaptable when we had to move our cocktail party from outdoor to closer to the bldg where our reception was going to take place. Everyone really enjoyed the music. Would definitely recommend!
They were excellent and worked around the circumstances. The song selection was perfect and performance was incredible. The best was that they didn't require any special attention:...
came in, got seated to their seats and played.
Good communication about the wedding music and the musicians created a lovely atmosphere for our wedding.
We actually hired the Harp Trio, but they're managed by the same people. It was a little on the pricy side, but it was one of those things that was important enough to me to pay f...
or it. The quality of the music was fantastic, and it was easy to coordinate with Susan to get the music selected for the event. There were a few minor communications hiccups with Elaine, who handles the booking for the ensembles, but nothing that created any serious problems.
