He’s also genuinely funny, which helped a lot. My husband, who normally hates taking pictures and thought our engagement session was going to be pointless, ended up actually having a lot of fun. The photos turned out incredible. He captured both posed and candid moments so well. Even though we didn't have much discussion about specific shots we wanted, you can tell Steve has been doing this a long time. We trusted him completely to get all the important photos and he did not disappoint. He also knew so many great spots around the city that were all close to each other but had completely different backgrounds, which gave us a ton of variety without adding extra stress or time to the day. He was very efficient with the time which turned out to be very valuable. Our ceremony started late so we were running behind, BUT we still got all the photos we wanted and got to the reception ahead of schedule! The best part, we received almost 700 photos!!! And the turnaround time was unbelievable — we had our full gallery within 24 hours. We had so many family and friends comment on how great our photographer was and how much they loved the photos. I will recommend none other than Steve to anyone looking for a photographer!

We did meet with him once to discuss, but we knew as soon as the meeting was over that he would be our guy. Scheduling was easy, we had a really fun time getting to know him at the engagement shoot, and we came away with some great shots and a lot of laughs. Great communication leading up to the wedding. Perfectly prepared for day of. He’s incredibly skilled at making people feel comfortable for pictures through humor, which allows him to get people at their best. The photos he captured were truly remarkable, and there are countless in so many different poses and locations at our venues (hotel and brewery) that we will forever treasure. Steve will tell you he’s at his best when you let him use his very talented eye for the shot. Let him. And on top of that, he still carries himself as a professional, was very gracious. I really appreciated that he reached out beforehand to make sure he was well prepared for any wedding surprises, wanted to know of any family dynamics so that he could avoid creating awkward moments, and asked about any attendees with photosensitive conditions (a nice touch for the wedding of a neurologist). Pictures were available insanely fast and his distribution method makes things so easy for everyone to view. Ultimately, Steve is the perfect choice for a photographer if you could imagine yourself/friends/family in the pictures in his gallery. If you want boring staged pictures with every possible combination of family members up to and including third cousins, look elsewhere because that’s a waste of Steve’s talent. If you want pictures that you’ll look back at in 5, 10, 20 years and actually remember how you felt in that moment rather than just who was there, pick Steve. Again, best choice of our wedding day.

I never had any issues getting a hold of Steve, asking questions about his pricing/inclusions, finalizing the contract, or receiving the final deliverables. Truly a dream vendor on this front. Engagement photoshoot: He walked us through the basic body positions and the casualness of how to have photos taken of us. This was SO helpful for the wedding day. We laughed through the entire hour, even though we were being eaten alive by mosquitoes. Photos were delivered that evening, and they were so candid, so fun, and so naturally us. Wedding: Apart from how talented he is at photography, our favorite thing about working with Steve was that we never felt bogged down by photography. Family and bridal party photos were snappy, we had plenty of getting ready shots that we love, and he listened to and captured the few photos requests we made. Looking back, I personally should have thought more about requesting more candid/1:1 shots with my parents but that is only because the few I do have came out so great. I wish I had more! Steve won't inundate you with every photo op possible, so be more prepared than I was and actually put some thought into "extra" photos you want. He even offered to take extra pictures at the end of the night - he clearly wants to let the couple dictate how intrusive photography is on the day of, which is PERFECT. However, as a couple, I recommend taking the time to think about your favorite shots that you want more of before the big day. Also, the turnaround time was mind-blowing. The link to our entire wedding album was ready within 24 hours. Overall quality: We have at least 1 photo of every guest who attended our wedding. That is so special to us. We also had several people from our wedding party comment on how much they enjoyed our photographer because of his biting British humor and overall easy-going style. I'd say everyone who interacted with him was impressed. I would recommend him to every single couple out there that wants beautiful pictures to remember the day but is not interested in spending all their free moments chasing down photo opportunities. It was important to us NOT to have the entire day be about trying to remember the day, but rather to live in the moment with our friends and family. Steve helped us do just that. THANK YOU STEVE!

I knew that I had found the perfect photographer for us. Steve's work is beautiful, raw, and NOT overedited like other photographers that I have seen. If you want to look pixelized then keep looking. Not only is Steve talented, but he is also great at communicating. He explains everything so well and keeps in touch throughout the entire process from phone calls, emails, text, etc. Steve takes the time to get to know you as a person. Steve learns your style, preferences, and works to capture your personality in EVERY picture taken. Steve captured our wedding beautifully. I could not recommend him more. For a small additional fee, he also helped us by taking candids at our rehearsal dinner and secured a second shooter to ensure he captured every moment of our large wedding. He’s exceptionally communicative. In the days leading up to the wedding, he kept in touch regularly via email, answering questions, sharing helpful tips, and putting us at ease. On the day itself, he checked in often to make sure we captured every must-have shot, while also suggesting new ideas on the fly. On our big day, drove through a massive thunderstorm to reach our wedding and still arrived right on time at my wife’s hotel to capture the “getting ready” moments. Then he promptly made his way to the venue, met with me for a few quick shots, and began scoping the best locations with an artist’s eye. Steve is a creative and adaptive. Despite our gray, rainy wedding day, our photos look bright and beautiful. He immediately spotted light, texture, and framing opportunities. He turned the less-than-ideal conditions into an absolute dream. Even with an active construction site next door, he positioned shots so perfectly that you’d never know it was there. ever recommend Steve to others and like a barber I will never find a new one to replace the perfectionism of life that Steve captures. It all started with a beautiful engagement shoot filled with creativity, laughs, professionalism, stories, and shared interests. Steve made us feel comfortable and confident to be taking photos. We had a few ideas but were happy to let the photographer guide us through the process. After all he is the professional. Through out the wedding Steve Made guests feel comfortable, iconic, and look like rock stars. Like a ninja and wizard Steven lurked in the shadows and appeared when most needed. Lots of photographers act like photos are only for the bride & groom. I was Best Man at my brother’s wedding & I think there were a total of 10 pictures that I was included in, they had 2 photographers. Steve got all these random moments of my brother, my best man, that he will be able to cherish & so will my family bc they included his daughter. Steve went above & beyond in The Domes & wouldn’t have asked for a better photographer. Steve was phenomenal. Even my cousins, who’ve been to 30+ weddings, said they wish they had a photographer like ours.

One thing that stuck out to us was we were one bouquet short for the bridesmaids photos and the way he arranged and took the photos made it so you don't even realize it. Honestly we wanted him to stay as a guest because he was such a pleasure to work with! We didn't want the same stuffy, staged photos that many other weddings have; we wanted beautiful & fun candids primarily, & SB delivered! I didn't have much defined as a "must" for our wedding, but Steve Bowman as our photographer was a must for me. He's quick & snarky in the best way possible, making jokes & people smile from the moment he arrived. They have such an eye for candids, & captured so many shots/candids to remember the littlest things, such as the puppet show in the playroom at the church to the "Something Old" tiny doll from my grandmother stuffed in my bouquet. The guy was all over the place at our reception - I cannot believe how much he was able to capture. Even going through photos for this review was difficult because we LOVED THEM ALL! My maid of honor was a photographer & even she reached out separately to say how excellent he was. We even had a curve ball thrown at us the day of our wedding when during our post-ceremony photos the park was slammed with people because Flamingos decided to stop in Port Washington that day! But Steve & Katie kept the audience at bay & the show rolling. Not just excellent photographers, but really enjoyable people to be around. You can't go wrong with him. It's all he does (not his side gig), & we had our pictures within 48 hours of the wedding - WOW, that's pretty fantastic! I'm sure many couples have moments after the wedding where "we could have done this instead..." but Steve Bowman Photography has never once been one of those! He was also very communicative and friendly, putting my partner and I at ease from the very beginning of our engagement shoot. Our wedding party agreed that he was great to work with. Also, Steve has the fastest turnaround time of any photographer I’ve ever met. For both our engagement and wedding photos, he had the entire 500+ photo album back to us the NEXT DAY. That’s not because he sent a bunch of bad photos with no edits; it’s because, as he stated, he takes good photos the first time so they don’t need a bunch of edits. Finally, Steve charges a great price for the quality of photos and service. Some vendors were charging double for the same hours and number of photos. I would work with Steve again in a heartbeat.

As for delivery, I am writing this review 2 days after my wedding and i have already shared pictures with friends and family. Already laughing and crying with each other reminiscing less than 24 hours after the event. I’ve heard horror stories about photographers not delivering but that is NO issue for Steve. I couldn’t imagine having used any other photographer. I truly feel bad for couples that do not get the pleasure of working with Steve on their big day. He made our day even more special than it already was going to be and I can’t thank him enough for that.
