Sylvia Tailor Shop

Sylvia and her team did the alterations for my wedding dress. They did a great job! The shop is incredibly busy, so I felt a little rushed at the first two appointments, but things definitely slowed down for the last two. The fit ended up being perfect. I would definitely recommend.

Sylvia was very patient, and informative on what was needed for my wedding dress. She was nice, and caring. I would recommend her services in all clothing. She was very good.

My Bridal Shop recommended using Sylvia to alter my dress as she was close to where I live and to the venue! Sylvia and her team were very welcoming and friendly, they made me feel comfortable and truly altered the dress to perfection! My dress needed to have straps put in and I had multiple fittings to make it just right. I love my dress and felt like a princess.

Sylvia was fantastic and so affordable with my wedding dress. She did a great job and was so quick. Everyone there is so nice and accommodating. I would definitely take more alterations to her.

My experience w/ Sylvia's Tailor shop was awesome! I was very nervous to leave my wedding dress anywhere, but after my first appointment at Sylvia's I was completely at ease. She works incredibly hard and was very accommodating. I had multiple fittings to get it perfect and she was very understanding and diligent each time. You won't find anyone more committed to making sure you are 110% happy with your dress than Sylvia! My dress was absolutely stunning and I have Sylvia and her team to thank for it!

I took my first bridesmaid dress to Sylvia's back in August 2015. Everyone there was so nice especially after my nightmare of a time with House of Brides with actually getting my dress. They were able to alter my dress and the brides very quickly at a reasonable price. I then got my wedding dress altered there in July 2016. Again price was reasonable and it was altered perfectly to me but was still comfortable. I have since gone here for 2 more additional weddings I have been in (2017 and 2018) and absolutely still love this place! I will keep bringing any dress's I may need to Sylvia's for their customer service, work, and cost. Even if I live over 45 minutes away!

All in all. It was a good shop for alterations. The dress looked great and the staff is very friendly. They are very busy though. Which is great for business and assures you that they know their stuff! There was a mix up on the date for my 2nd alteration. It wouldn’t be an issue but it’s a 45 minute drive. My maid of honor came to learn how to zip it up. We scheduled it because of her work and children. When we got there and they said they had 2 Lisa’s and the erased mine. I had to come back the another day without her and bring someone else to learn. There was conflicting stories between the shop I bought my dress and the tailor shop on how the dress should be fitted. But ultimately it looked beautiful and it was done on time.

I loved working with the staff at Sylvia's. I did get to meet Sylvia herself, but she was not the woman who ended up working with me on my wedding dress. We used her for a Mother of the Groom dress, as well as three of my bridesmaids dresses. The nice thing was that they were able to work with all three of those bridesmaids dresses in order to take a few of them out. I'd recommend these guys to anyone, and I'll be going back there to have my regular clothes altered from now on as well.

I'm never taking my clothes anywhere else to get altered. Sylvia and her team are pros! It is a little tricky to get an appointment at times, since they're so amazing and book up quick, but they try to get you in as soon as they can. Call early and go see them!

Friendly people. The dress fit perfectly. My bustle did not stay after several tries by different people.

Sylvia is absolutely amazing. I chose her for my wedding gown alterations after a recommendation from the bridal shop and I am so happy we went with her! Sylvia's workmanship is exceptional. My mother and I wanted removable straps made to wear during the ceremony and purchased a yard of the beaded lace on the gown to work with. She created, from the extra material, beautiful straps that did not disappoint. The first set made by another girl at the shop weren't quite right, so Sylvia took over and they ended up being perfect. The entire bodice also had to be taken in as well - it was completely beaded lace so I was anxious that I'd be able to tell when they let it out (after being taken in too much) but it also ended up being perfect. Sylvia was also able to alter my mother's gown on same day notice 2 days before the wedding (after the original gown was lost by the post office). She truly saved the day! Sylvia and her staff will bend over backward to do it right and make you happy. I have taken several other pieces - dresses, pants and skirts - to her to alter and essentially have a new wardrobe now. It's just icing on the cake, how sweet she and her staff are. I have moved out of the area, but will save all my alterations to bring home for her to do when I visit - the service, quality and value is worth it!

I was terrified to take my dress anywhere. After reading many reviews on many different places, I decided to take my dress to Sylvia. She was amazing. So sweet and professional. She had everything done in a short amount of time and it was perfect. The bridesmaid that accompanied me to my appointments ended up taking her dress there as well because she was so impressed with the work they did. I'd take anything back to them in a heartbeat!

Silvia is good and friendly! But She doesnt do the fit in the right way! Because she is in a hurry all the time!

What can I say. Thank you Knot for great reviews leading me to Sylvia's shop. She took my dress, purchased in another state, that came in very late and altered it for me beautifully. And in only 4 weeks. Plus she's just a dear to work with, as is her staff. She even allowed my mom to help, who sews and wanted to be a part of the dress fitting. I will be going back for obviously less important things but great, great shop.

I bought my wedding dress from a boutique in Wisconsin. The dress was a size 8 and I'm closer to a 4. Sylvia's Tailor was pretty busy, but with appointments she was always very focused and helpful. She made suggestions and also took suggestions. My mom wanted certain pieces to be fixed and she did it even though I don't think she thought it was best for the overall look of the dress (she didn't want to alter the style, which I understood). My strapless dress fit perfectly and I wasn't pulling it up all night. The bustle was lovely and everything was numbered so it was easy for my bridesmaids to figure it out. Sylvia also added straps and took in my maid of honor's dress, which turned out very lovely too! I can't remember how much I paid, but it was reasonable. I would recommend this shop for any wedding dress altering needed.

After losing nearly 40 lbs after picking up my wedding dress from a small boutique in Kentucky, I knew I needed to find a tailor that could help my dress fit perfectly again! I found Sylvia Tailor Shop on yelp and was immediately impressed by the positive reviews. After much research, I met with Sylvia and although I felt nervous beforehand, I was immediately put to rest when working with Sylvia. She has so much knowledge about what she is doing and is a true professional. She did a fantastic job altering my dress, I couldn't be happier!, and all for a reasonable price. I HIGHLY recommend her!

Sylvia was AMAZING!!! My dress was purchased from Brides By Demetrios...it was the first place I went to look and it was the last dress I tried on. Sylvia was recommended to me by Jen for alterations. When I had ordered my dress I went with the size recommended based on my measurements, however when the dress came it was a bit snug and I was really worried that it wasn't going to fit me on my wedding day. After talking to Jen, I decided to try out Sylvia since she was close to my home and work. She was extremely flexible with getting me in for my first fitting and at the last minute she was also able to squeeze in my mom and mother-in-law as well. After trying on the dress and seeing how tight it was, I was extremely disappointed and nervous that it wasn't going to fit and I would have to figure something else out. Sylvia assured and reassured me that everything was going to work out and that the dress was going to fit me perfectly and she would bustle the dress so that it wouldn't change the design. I let her pin everything and explain what she was going to do and I scheduled my second fitting and left. When I came back for the next fitting, I tried on the dress and was in love all over again!! As she promised, the dress fit me PERFECTLY!!! My dress was also very plain, without any beading, but with a lot of texture so my mom had suggested putting some Swarovski crystals to add some shimmer. I brought the beads to Sylvia and she put them on my dress for me and it looked GORGEOUS! My dress had also come with a bolero that I was not going to wear, so Sylvia made me a matching headpiece using a part of the bolero and added the Swarovski crystals to it so it would match my dress. I also wanted to wear my mom's veil, but it was white and my dress was ivory. It was going to mean so much to me to have a part of my mom's wedding with me on my special day, so when I went to Sylvia I asked about dying the veil and she said she could do it...I was so excited! Needless to say...Sylvia did an incredible job with my wedding dress, headpiece and veil. A lot of the guests at the wedding complimented me on how beautiful my dress was and how nice it looked on me and fit me. I was so please with it all! My mom was pleased with her dress alterations and so was my mother-in-law. I would recommend Sylvia to anyone for any type of alterations. She is a miracle worker for clothing and dresses! Wow!!! Sylvia worked magic on my wedding dress. I purchased my wedding dress from Brides By Demetrios and absolutely loved it! I ordered it in a size larger just in case I gained any weight. When it was time for alterations, I went straight to Sylvia. My dress was huge on me and when the corset was laced, it was completely closed. At my first alterations appointment, Sylvia assured me that my dress would fit perfectly by the time she was done with it. I live in Milwaukee and she made time for me to come in for alterations. At my second fitting, the dress had been transformed. It fit really nicely and I was so happy that most of my bridesmaids and my Mother in law decided to use Sylvia Tailor Shop for their alterations as well. At my final fitting, Sylvia showed my sister how to bustle my dress. She had added beautiful buttons from Europe to the train. My dress fit like a glove. Sylvia turned my dress into a gown. I couldn't have felt any more beautiful on my wedding day and it was all thanks to her. Thank you Sylvia!!!
