About this vendor
Our private, highly unique 13-acre Nevada City estate offers three separate venues
for your casual or formal gathering, accommodating up to 600 guests.
Transformed from a Gold Rush mining camp, the estate was developed, across twenty years, by garden designer Jan Roth, who feels adamant about working around what nature has already put into place – in this case, Cedars, Pines, Firs, Madrones, Manzanita, along with myriad native plants and flowers. The beauty of such natural flora, provides a stunning backdrop for the many “garden rooms” Jan has fashioned in three unique venues: The Rose Garden, The Wedding Garden, and The Party Pad.

My husband and I were married at The Roth Estate on September 25, 2021. We only had 65 guests, but the space can easily accommodate much more. (Like, hundreds more!)
I cannot say...
enough good things about the owner, Jan, or her property.
Jan was available, supportive, and all around incredibly accommodating. She was so organized, she took away all the stress I was feeling surrounding wedding planning. She even offered us a HUGE list of vendor recommendations!! Super helpful!
She collaborated with our vendors promptly and effectively. She was candid about her expectations and humored our silliest asks! Although guest parking is a bit of a trek from ceremony/party space, it is wheelchair accessible and it's set up in such a way that a member of the party can "valet" for those who might be unable to walk up the hill. The space is a California dream. Lush wedding lawn, surrounded by evergreens, there is a small lake and even a cute swing set and trampoline!
My only wish is that I'd met her (and her husband) BEFORE we were getting married so we'd have the privilege of having them as GUESTS instead of a VENDOR at our wedding.
My wife and I got married at the Roth Estate in early summer and were very happy with our choice. This is a beautiful outdoor venue, with various areas for the different stages of ...
the event -- the wedding lawn, which we used for our ceremony, the rose garden, which we used for our cocktail hour, and the party pad, where we held the dinner/reception. The venue was more than large enough for our 150 guests (the wedding lawn can fit up to 600), but at the same time still small enough that it felt intimate. The party pad in particular was a magical atmosphere -- trees all around, a rustic barn for a backdrop, white paper lanterns overhead, and the stars above. Because of the natural beauty/landscaping of the venue, we were able to decorate very simply.
Another plus of this venue is that you get it for an entire three-day period, so we were able to set up and hold our rehearsal dinner barbecue there on Friday (we used Bill's Chuck Wagon--they were excellent), the ceremony and dinner/reception on Saturday (we used Emily's Catering and Cakes--also excellent), and a farewell brunch on Sunday morning.
This is very much a choose-your-own adventure venue, as they provide fairly minimal equipment and amenities. There are some tables and chairs, a large barbecue, vases, a fridge, some ice chests, and a few other things (and there is a nice indoor area with a bathroom where the bridal party can get ready), but otherwise you need to bring what you need, including portable toilets, sound equipment, table settings, flowers, and drinking water. The venue is very clear about what they provide, so there are no surprises! If it is possible, I would recommend using vendors who bring their own equipment and supplies. (That said, Emily's Catering did not provide serving dishes but it worked out fine for us to rent those separately from a local company -- it's just an extra thing to keep track of.)
Holding your event here is more hands-on than if you go with an all-inclusive type place, but it also means you get to customize more and potentially save some money. For example, many venues require you to use their bartenders, or charge corkage if you want to bring your own wine, but the Roth Estate does not. Also, you can choose your own catering, which we thought was important because wedding food can sometimes be disappointing.
The owner, Jan Roth, was wonderful to work with -- responsive, warm, and clear with communication. We hired a wedding coordinator (Raegan Elrod and her team from Anything' Possible Events and More -- also excellent), and Jan worked very well with them.
Altogether a magical and beautiful setting for an outdoor event!
This place was perfect for our outdoor vintage, family friendly wedding with 340 guests. Wedding and reception can be at same location. Parking for approx. 70 cars. Nice Horseshoe...
pit available for guests, trampoline, swing set, and lawn games for kids. Beautiful rose garden for down time. We luved it. Jan is great to work with.
