t Mark’s wedding work, we decided to book him for our engagement session and wedding photos. We received the engagement photos and the wedding pics couldn’t be happier! We didn’t know where we should do the engagement session and Mark suggested a few spots, and we chose a beach location. We did the session around the La Jolla area and the variety of photos we got was great. He did poses of us looking at the camera of course, but also fun shots of us interacting and walking on the beach, and then some nice shots at sunset time as well. For the wedding Mark was great to work with as well. He did a timeline consultation prior to the wedding and worked with our coordinator to make sure everything was going to go off as planned with no stress on the day. He also checked out the locations early and knew exactly where he wanted to shoot come time for the poses on the day of the wedding. Since we had a church ceremony, and time was limited for poses afterwards (and we wanted to mingle with our family and guests at cocktail hour), we did a 1st look and some of our poses prior at a park. Between those photos and the ones Mark and his assistant took around sunset time, we have a great selection of poses of the the two of us (plus all the usual family photos). For the rest of the wedding day Mark and the other photographer were very unobtrusive and captured a ton of candid shots during the cocktail hour through the reception. We have a large selection of candids of our families and friends, as well as a huge variety of fun dancing photos! Mark is super friendly and easy to work with. If you’re looking for a solid photographer who works hard on the day and is also fun and personable, Mark is definitely a perfect choice and I highly recommend him!

I never thought of how important it is. But the time line actually eventually became the most essential thing in my while wedding. He said he had just the guy to shoot my wedding, Paul. Mark and I had several conversations, he is extremely knowledgeable about the flow/timeline of a wedding. Mine was REALLY long, he was extremely patient and professional and we worked on getting it down to something they could actual manage in the time they had. Ghia was reassuring and calming, AND was able to make sure we were getting in all those pics I wanted. And then there’s Paul, wow! First of all, he is professional, kind, and has a really great eye! If he asks for your shoes, your bouquet or your rings... just hand them over!!! He took the most amazing pics and really captured the love and joy of the day!! Ghia, Paul and Mark were the photographers I was looking for!! I highly recommend them!!

t married in July in San Diego at Tom Ham's Lighthouse but had our getting ready pictures and some portraits taken at Humphreys Half Moon Inn. It is very obvious Mark took the time to prepare and scout out good locations for pictures at both places. This allowed us to not only have the most beautiful pictures with many different backgrounds but it kept us on our timeline which allowed us to spend more time enjoying our wedding and reception. ith a rain plan and Mark was great at coming up with alternate locations and laying out all the potential options. Fortunately, the rain cleared and we didn't need the back-up plan but I was completely confident with Mark and his team. Most importantly, the photos are AMAZING!!! We received the photos much, much faster than expected after the wedding and we couldn't be happier with the quality of Mark's work. We took first look, bridal party, and immediate family photos in a hotel garden and Mark was able to make it seem like we were in a secluded tropical paradise! No buildings were visible and his ability to create the perfect lighting is unsurpassed. The photos from the ceremony and reception truly capture the essence of our wedding and allowed me to completely relive the day. Leading up to our wedding, he was excellent with his communication and had great info about how to prepare for the engagement shoot, how to figure out our photo lists and what would work best with our timeline. During our wedding, Mark and the wonderful second photographer he brought (her name slips my mind, unfortunately) were very organized, efficient and kept everything moving along. But that's because I'm jaded. Ha ha. I want you to know IT'S ALL TRUE. Mark is the best, and you won't regret hiring him. He does have better equipment AND technique than other photographers. Not only are the photos STUNNING, but Mark was like a ninja capturing moments that were so special while we did not even know he was there! I have so many pictures of my friends and family that are so special -- revealing their characters, capturing their essence of personality, and evoking memories that will last decades rather than fading away. Isn't that what it's all about, remembering how it all felt? He gets up close without anyone knowing and really captures people's souls. It's amazing. It brings the whole experience to life again. And of course, the traditional bride and groom shots and wedding party portraits are just what you want them to be. No doubt. I was pregnant at my wedding, did not feel I looked so beautiful and perfect as a bride should because of the extra weight. However, Mark captured my happiness and joy and my love of my husband in a way that moves me to tears. He made me look beautiful even when I did not feel like it. His pictures of my husband are equally amazing. All around I HIGHLY recommend that you choose Mark and please do not look any further.

He also was flexible in working together with us to provide a custom package. He was straightforward, open, honest, and detailed with his pricing, policies, and procedure. We had done our research and came with a ton of questions... all of which he was ready and able to answer, and it was so nice to feel like there were no catches or hidden loop holes! Our engagement shoot was fantastic. Neither of us had taken professional photos before so we weren't sure what to do, whether to pose or be natural, or how to pose. Mark coached us along and put us at ease with some humor. Mark was even great enough when we asked him a week or so prior to the shoot to help us recreate a photo posing us similar to a photo of my husbands grandparents. When we got our photos back, we were overjoyed at how BEAUTIFUL and pristine they were! The place we took our photos at the beach was packed, but Mark somehow knew how to angle things in such a way that made it look like we were at a private beach! On our wedding day, we were even further convinced that we made a fantastic choice in photographers. Our wedding was in December so it had some schedule challenges due to limited sunlight, but Mark worked with us to create a timeline that fit in everything we needed and was efficient but not rushed. Well, the wedding day came along and it was the worst storm most of California had seen in at least 5 years so we were nervous whether things would still run on time and our vendors would get stuck in traffic. Mark and his assistant photographer arrived at the getting ready locations perfectly on time, and helped the day move along according to schedule, despite the weather challenges. And thankfully, the rain dried up right before our ceremony! When the ceremony went 30 minutes longer than expected, Mark and his wife Stacy got through all our family poses incredibly efficiently and we headed off to take the rest of the photos with the remaining sunlight and even made up the time we were behind by being efficient but not rushed before heading off to the reception. The toasts at the reception also ran late, which put our schedule behind, and again Mark came through despite having to adjust plans last minute. Needless to say, we felt like there was a lot thrown at us (and subsequently our vendors) during our wedding day... some thing expected and some unexpected. Despite all these challenges, things were so stress free for us the entire day due to Mark and his team and our incredible wedding coordinator helping to keep things on schedule and on track. During the ceremony and reception, we hardly even noticed Mark and his team were there... and we have absolutely beautiful images of all sorts (poses, shots of the details of the wedding, candids) that captured every bit of the day beautifully! Mark and his team come at a higher price than many of the newer, less experienced wedding photographers that have popped up recently, but you absolutely get what you pay for. If photography is important to you, we HIGHLY recommend going with Unveiled!

I do not remember how I came across Unveiled Wedding Photography, but it was the best choice I made in regards to my wedding day… other than saying I DO! After seeing the reviews and the breathtaking work of Mark Hillis, I was almost convinced that this would be the guy (: I looked into the details, but also knew that I was going to have to work on my husband a little bit since he had a family member that was available to do the photography. I did not want to mix business with pleasure and my advice is to NEVER USE FAMILY OR FRIENDS AS YOUR WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHER. It was more important to me to get good photos at whatever cost. I contacted Mark and was immediately responded to. He was very professional and this was just the start of good qualities he portrayed through our encounters. My husband gave in and let me choose whoever I wanted to do the photos (and now is SO HAPPY he did). Throughout the process, Mark made it very clear that he was available for any questions I had and could meet in person or via the phone. Due to my hectic schedule, the phone conversations worked much better. I made a pinterest board of the “goals” I had for my wedding photos and what I respected about Mark was that he said the truth---he told me that each picture is a different setting, lighting, time of day, etc. He stated he was not willing to spend time trying to capture a copycat image that would be decent when he could be getting original images of incredible quality. I believe a good business will do whatever it takes to get the best possible outcome of the product they’re selling. Mark was very clear that he was only willing to do good quality images and I felt like I had nothing to worry about from that point forward. We kept in touch until the wedding day, changing any last minute details as necessary. He was at my wedding venue the weekend prior looking at the angles, lighting, and different shots he would be able to achieve (now that’s impressive!). On the day of, he was very prepared, good with his time, and adaptable. Like I said in the beginning, things are going to go wrong and sure enough, the rain came down! The locations of photos were moved and I thought for sure they would not be as good as I hoped (but I was very wrong). When I saw the photos, I was shocked. The photos are full of depth, emotion, and beauty. Overall, what I can say is that Unveiled Wedding Photography was one of the best choices I made for my wedding. I have no regrets. Mark cared about my wedding photos just as much as I did and there is a lot to say for that. I am so extremely happy with the experience I had. They are easy to communicate with and get a hold of, they are on time, and get your proofs out to you in a very timely manner.

My only tip: We have a lot of beautiful images of people we aren't close with or were guests of friends. A large amount. And when you pay for a certain number of pictures it takes away from the images you could have had of people you love. So plan ahead and let your photographer know who you want images of. Maybe point out certain tables at dinner you'd like more shots of, etc. (that's on us) Overall well done Mark!!!

Inside the chapel was an upstairs balcony and I really wanted Mark to get at least one shot from up above, in honor of my late father (also named Marc) perhaps as if he was "looking down from Heaven." It wasn't until I reviewed the photos that I came across several shots from the balcony. Mark had made it upstairs and was able to capture once-in-a-lifetime shots for me. Choosing Mark was the best decision my husband and I made for our wedding. We now have incredible pictures to remember such a blessed day and we have Mark to thank.

ot these things, his pictures alone are the best in the business! We had started to look pretty late for photographers, and had contacted a few places, some of whom had taken several days to respond. Mark, on the other hand, answered my phone call and was eager to meet with us soon! As soon as we met him, we could see how genuinely professional and friendly he was. And I was blown away from the sample pictures he showed us, at how much he could capture emotions and moments, that you could really 'feel' what was happening at the weddings rather than the pictures just being a chronicling of the events. We met with maybe one other photographer after that, but we could already tell that Mark was our guy! We had many phone conversations with him before the big day, and he was integral in helping us figure out the timeline of our wedding; it would have been a lot harder without him. Starting with the timeline we made with him, we were able to organize with the other vendors so that everything fit together smoothly. We did an engagement session with him beforehand to get familiar with him before the big day, and we took pictures all around Balboa Park. He of course knew all of the best places to take pictures, and had probably shot there countless times, but it felt like he really was willing to get to know us and make this our unique experience. We even got some shots in our Chargers jerseys! The pictures turned out fantastic, and we had a few of them displayed at our wedding. The day of, Mark arrived with his wife Stacy (the picture editor/assistant photographer), as well as their intern, and we began the process of taking first look/ bridal party/ family photos, which can always be hectic and disorganized, but Mark and Stacy somehow orchestrated everything so that it ran flawlessly, and we kept on time. Quality was not sacrificed though, as every posed picture looked as if that could be the one you put up on your wall. Every smile and tear was captured during the ceremony; looking back at these pictures, I could recount exactly what I was feeling at the time. Then, it was to more family pictures and bride and groom pictures, which we even got done in time with to enjoy some of the cocktail hour! During the reception, the whirlwind of events can get your engines pumping. Mark was a fly on the wall, in the best possible way. He got amazing candid shots of almost everyone at the reception, but we did not once feel like he interrupted the flow of the reception. Once again, Mark and Stacy did an outstanding job. We cannot recommend them highly enough! YOU WILL NOT BE DISAPPOINTED!

This was extremely helpful for us because we were planning our wedding in San Diego from Arizona. With Pinterest these days people get all sorts of ideas for crazy photos. Mark was kind enough to take extra time in getting some of the ones I saw recreated. Everyone from our wedding has been super impressed with all of our photos! Mark was so easy and fun to work with. He was very approachable, organized, and flexible. I knew right away I was in good hands and I trusted Mark, this was especially important since I was so far away! Because it was such short notice, Mark himself was unavailable to shoot our wedding, but had another photographer on staff (Phil) take our pictures. He couldn't have been better. We met with him once and told him our story and what we wanted to convey with the pictures. He did an amazing job and even stayed overtime (without charging us) because he wanted to make sure he captured the flow of the night. I tried really hard to make wedding planning as stress free as possible and Unveiled helped make this possible. I think working with Unveiled was one of the easiest and most enjoyable parts of planning my wedding, and seriously one of the best decisions we made was to hire them!
