Velvet City Sound

Nick and Velvet City Sound were everything I wanted and more! They exceeded our expectations. They were so easy to work with and wanted to make sure it was the perfect night for us and our guests. Nick did check ins throughout the process and helped with music. They incorporated songs we wanted to hear and also kept guests on the dance floor the entire night! It was such a great experience and I would highly recommend them! We had a 7 piece which I also recommend! They were so amazing.

These guys are amazing. 100% worth every penny. My husband and I knew for a fact we wanted a live band and made that a priority. The professionalism, organization, and communication alone was a huge sign to me from early on that we made the right choice. Then we go to see them live. As musicians ourselves, we were extremely impressed. The performance was spectacular. The band took extra care into the setlist and made sure to fit all of our requests in. Jordan, our lead for the night, even took the time to create a medley/mashup of two special song requests (both new to the band) and absolutely wowed us and the rest of our guests with it. They bring energy, fun, excellent music and their service and attention to detail is unparalleled. I would recommend VCS in a heartbeat

VCS is an absolute MUST BOOK. We had them come up to Knoxville for our wedding and the entire process was seamless. Nick was extremely personable and catered to all of our needs. Their process is so thorough and they will make sure they are playing what you are looking for. I searched high and low for a wedding band that could play the music we were looking for. VCS' range is WILD. They can play anything from Grateful Dead to Shania Twain. We are so appreciative of Nick and VCS, our wedding would not have been nearly as amazing without them. THANKS SO MUCH GUYS!!!

We cannot recommend Velvet City Sound highly enough! Nick and the VCS band were absolutely amazing to work with, and they made the experience easy and fun. They are incredibly talented, and were able to play songs across a wide range to match the vibe of our wedding and keep the energy up throughout the night. Velvet City Sound played our wedding last Saturday & was literally our favorite part of the entire day. They were AMAZING, so much fun & so receptive to the crowd. They even played a song we didn’t expect to get the crowd going AND they let my husband’s cousin play with them. We did the five-piece band to get an additional female singer and she was absolutely amazing. They even learned a new song for our first dance & rocked it. It was an absolute blast & would absolutely recommend them to anyone who asked. Top tier and so worth the cost for the amount of talent they have!!!

Velvet City Sound was one of the best wedding decisions we made! It was important to both of us to have a band at our wedding and VCS absolutely blew our expectations out of the water. They were so much fun and kept the party going the entire night. From the moment we booked with them the communication was easy and thorough. We were able to be as hands on or off with the set list as we wanted and they encouraged all our ideas from the start. So many of our guests have reached out to say how great VCS was and how they truly made the night. We cannot recommend VCS enough! They even let us sing Mr Brightside with them which was the icing on the cake!

From the moment I had my first phone call with Nick, I knew we were in good hands having Velvet city sound as our wedding band! He was great with communication during the whole planning process. The google doc we filled out for our personalized wedding music made me feel so organized and like the band would know exactly what we wanted. The night of our wedding was SO fun and I had no worries with Nick leading the band and MCing. We got compliments all night long and after the wedding about how fun the band was. They were high energy, went exactly by our requests, had amazing vocals, took song requests during the reception and just kept the party going until the very end. I cannot recommend this band enough! They MADE our wedding reception!

As a wedding planner, we have extremely high expectations, and Velvet City Sound far exceeded them! We worked our first wedding with them yesterday and couldn't wait to add them to our list of recommended vendors! They are communicative, flexible, team players, professional and extremely talented! Special shoutout to one of the lead vocalists, Sarah, who had the most amazing voice! All of the vendors and guests were raving about them the entire evening! We highly recommend them for your wedding or event and cannot wait to work with with them again soon!

Nick was easy to work with and super accommodating! He listened to us attempt to describe the very specific type of music we wanted and achieved our vision perfectly. A highlight for us was having the acoustic guitar and saxophone for our cocktail hour before introducing the full band at the reception - it made each space feel so intentional. We’re still getting compliments on the band even after the wedding!

They played at our NYE wedding on 12/31/23 and just absolutely made the night! We had multiple people texting us the next day asking what their name was again because they loved them so much. If you are looking to get your crowd on the dance floor, Velvet City Sound is your band! They play everything from Yellowcard to Taylor Swift to Lynard Skynard - and everything in between! They are the BEST! Thank you for making our wedding SO MUCH FUN!!!

VCS is an awesome event band! Nick Bryant was so great to work with. Work is the wrong word as he made this so easy for us. Our event was a wedding reception for our daughter. She's our only child so we've never planned an event like this before. I researched several bands and found VCS. Our event was on New Years Eve in Mobile, AL. VCS traveled to Mobile and had everything ready to go when we arrived at The Bragg-Mitchell Mansion for the reception. One of the classiest moments was walking in the cocktail hour and hearing the piano and saxophone playing for our guest as they entered the reception, ate and had a few warmup drinks. The reception then moved outside to where we had a tent and the full band playing. We went with the six-piece band. Saxophone and female vocal are definitely recommended for an add on. VCS kept the dance floor full the entire night. Many guests asked us who this band was and how we found them. VCS far exceeded our expectations and I highly recommend them for any event where you may need a band. Oh, and the night ended with a fantastic playing of Sweet Home Alabama. We had such a blast with Velvet city Sound playing for our wedding! We had a live pianist play our ceremony, a DJ covered the cocktail hour, and a 4 piece band played our reception - all through VCS! Every musician was amazingly talented and as a group they served as fantastic emcees. My husband and I are musicians ourselves, so it was both important and meaningful to us that we had live music for our wedding. VCS drew our attention with all of the options and talent that they could provide and sold us on their huge array of songs that we could select from. There is truly something for everyone in their songlist and they still have flexibility to work on other songs for you should you want something specific for your ceremony, special dances, etc. An incredible example of that was my "walk down the aisle" song. My husband wrote a song for me when we first started dating and I dreamed of walking down the aisle to it. We reached out to our VCS manager with the idea and provided written chords/score and an audio recording. They agreed and spent the time learning the song on piano so that we could have this magical moment on our big day - it was AMAZING! Another magical moment occurred during our reception, when we'd prearranged for my husband to join the band for a song that he played with a restaurant band on one of our first dates. He borrowed one of their guitars and they gave him the main microphone to lead the song. It was so wonderfully HIM and it brought the house down! We can't thank VCS enough for letting us join them and add some special moments to their typical plan/setup. I also want to highlight their flexibility. Not only were they adaptive throughout the event as the schedule changed and they were forced to do some things on the fly, but they also made some major, spontaneous concessions that were unexpected. Unfortunately there was a power outage affecting our wedding venue on the weekend of our wedding. This meant that not only would our wedding now have to take place outside in the July heat, but there would be no power for speakers, keyboards, amps, or any electrical equipment the band would use. The band manager worked closely with my mom and our wedding coordinator to workshop new ideas to still pull off the music for our wedding and went to great lengths to acquire a generator (hours before our wedding!) so that we could still use all of the equipment. Fate would have it that the power came back a couple of hours before the wedding so we returned to our original plans, but VCS undoubtedly went above and beyond to make sure that our wedding happened no matter what! Our guests raved about how fun it was to dance all night long with a live band and they certainly kept our dance floor packed until closing time! I cannot recommend a live band enough, and if you are leaning that direction - Velvet City Sound is the way to go!

I can’t say enough about how wonderful it was to work with Velvet City Sound. They sounded amazing at our wedding reception! I wish I could relive that party over and over. They were so professional and easy to work with. They were attentive to emails and so accommodating. They learned 8 new songs for us and sounded like they had been playing them together for years. Jordan went above and beyond to make sure the sound was right for our wedding ceremony as well. Truly, VCS exceeded all my expectations!

You will not find a better group than this! Great music and great people. Highly recommend!

We had VCS at our wedding, and a band was my one thing I wanted and they did not let us down what so ever. They sounded absolutely wonderful, learned new songs, were polite, eager, thoughtful, and even let a friend of mine jump up and sing Shout! I could not have imagined a better group to play my wedding. My husband even said, heck, we may just throw a party for funsies one day and get them back. Everyone loved them and I highly recommend.

We got married 9/30/23 at the Venue at Sharp Mountain. My husband’s only request during wedding planning was a great band, and we got the BEST with Velvet City Sound. Most of my communication was with Nick Bryant. He is fantastic and was always so quick to respond when I had questions or needed anything. My husband and I actually heard VCS play before the wedding at a local event. The lead singer that day was Jordan, and my husband and I knew immediately we wanted him to be the lead at our wedding. I emailed Nick, and he made that happen for us. We had a call with Jordan the week before the wedding to finalize all the details. Our only request was to keep everyone dancing and having fun. Jordan went above and beyond to make that happen. Our guests were on the dance floor having a blast all night! VCS is amazing and we cannot recommend them enough!

VCS absolutely rocked at my wedding. They did everything from the cocktail hour, playing at dinner, playing the mom and son dance, and then for another 2.5 hours into the night. I was very specific about the set list and the order of songs and they nailed everything. They said they would learn a few new songs that weren’t part of their massive list of songs, and they went above and beyond by learning several new songs that we requested specially. I never left the dance floor at my wedding. I requested mostly classic rock songs but the variety of songs they can do is extraordinary. I highly recommend VCS!

Nick and the rest of Velvet City Sound were so easy to work with! Always quick to respond to emails or phone calls, always willing to accomodate the bride's wishes to the very best of their ability, and just all around great folks to work with. As a wedding coordinator, I know that keeping people on the dance floor isn't always easy, but they got it done - even as they were competing with a local college football game that was on in the bar...so that is saying something! :-) I think the best thing I can say is that I would recommend them to other brides. Great people and great music!!

Nick's communication and contract were excellent, and I was impressed with Velvet City Sound's extensive set list. Our family includes musicians, both amateur and professional, so we had especially high standards. Velvet City Sound's eight-piece band was musically solid and entertaining, and they played at just the right volume. The entire band was respectful and hard-working and could not have been a better fit for our outdoor Southern wedding reception.

Velvet City Sound was the perfect choice for our wedding at West Milford Farm! We stalked their instragram and Facebook to get a good sense of their style— and when we heard the variety of songs they played (and played well), we were sold! I think it was Mr. Brightside and Fall Out Boy that really did it for me, which they ended our night with! Nick, the manager is so easy to work with throughout, and Mike, the lead singer was so easy going with us brides, but brought the energy the whole time! We had so many guests come up to us and say how awesome the band was, that it was the best band they’ve heard at a wedding, etc! They communicate well, will let you customize and learn songs for you, show up early to set up, work hard to make sure nothing goes wrong, and sound awesome!! Everything you want in a wedding band!!! And if you’re Jewish, they play a great long Hora!

VCS, and particularly Mike the band leader, were great! They have the best song list that we could find, were very accommodating with our requests as far as songs and schedule, mic'ed up the officiant, served as a great MC, and played excellently! We had a blast with VCS.

I worked alongside Velvet City at one of my client's weddings and they truly were amazing. Nick was extremely responsive throughout the planning process! The day of the wedding, the band was on-time, setup quickly and worked with us to make sure the day ran smoothly from guest announcements to playing all of our client's must have songs. VCS provide a guitar duo for ceremony, DJ for cocktail hour, and band for reception! They were AMAZING, all the guests loved them and they were very easy to work with. I've been recommending them to other friends getting married. They worked with our music taste really well and knew what songs to play to get the crowd dancing!

We hired a guitar duo/vocals from VCS to play our ceremony and cocktail hour. The entire process from start to finish was so easy and smooth. We got to request the songs we wanted to play down the aisle and they played our favorites during cocktail hour. Guests had nothing but good things to say about the music! Would recommend to anyone :)

Bride and Groome here. Before heading off on our honeymoon, we had to let the world know how happy we were to have chosen Velvet City Sound to play for our wedding. This is the third review Im writing for this band and I will try my best not to go too crazy like in the other two (check them out on google and on wedding wire for those reviews). I have to agree whole heartedly with one of the reviews on here I just glanced at..literally the second we got off the phone with Nick we knew we made the right choice. And we expected them to be good based off how professional, experienced, and friendly they were, but damn. We didn't know they would be utterly amazing. From the first song to the very last one, absolutely killed it. They are so talented I mean its actually crazy that we could afford them no kidding. The only bad part was was that it had to end. I could hav stayed on that dance floor listening to them for 10 hours straight. Hire them. Don't think on it anymore, ask for the sax, and hire them. You're welcome.

Hiring VCS was one of the best decisions we made for our big day!! We couldn't have been happier with our experience. They did everything from the ceremony, first dances, and the reception and were unbelievable! As a musician, I was very specific on what my wife and I wanted and looked at many different options before finding VCS. Velvet City Sound is the right choice for your wedding hands down. So wonderful to work with leading up to the wedding - responsive and collaborative, Mike made the planning so easy and fun. They did a beautiful job with our ceremony music ... but the reception.. WOW. I've always dreamed of having one of those wedding dance floors that nobody leaves the entire night... and that's exactly what happened. Everyone kept talking about them for weeks after the wedding. Once we spoke with Nick over the phone we knew we were making the right choice! He promised and boy did they deliver! They learned our first dance song, handled ceremony, basically everything. Our guests kept asking us who the band was and where did you find them. Needless to say, the band exceeded our expectations (and we are very picky)! Wow. I knew Velvet City Sound was going to be good (referral from a friend), but I didn't expect them to be this good! They kept everyone dancing, showed up on time, and made everything stress free. This band played at my wedding, and let me tell you, they know how to keep everyone engaged and on the dance floor! The right songs were played in the right order, keeping us and our guests dancing all night. It was a home run! If you are looking for someone to play/coordinate the music for your wedding, look no further!

Absolutely the best there is! I came across Nick and Velvet City Sound when searching for our wedding entertainment. Boy did I hit the jackpot! They played at the ceremony. Played acoustic during dinner (Which is when the compliments began rolling in from our guests). Then the band rocked during the reception. It was absolutely perfect and included an amazing version of Fire Away - Chris Stapleton. They learned our first dance song, the father daughter song, the TN fight song and so many more spur of the moment song choices. A+++. You can’t go wrong here.
