I highly recommend VogaBeauty to anyone looking to get their hair and/or makeup done. Their exceptional work left a lasting impression on my aunts, cousins, and sisters during my Bengali wedding. Each person who experienced their artistry raved about their exceptional skills. VogaBeauty possesses a remarkable ability to adapt to diverse skin tones and hair textures. Shajara and Asia were so friendly, and prompt in their responses, and made me feel comfortable. My sister is getting married next year, and I will definitely hire them again.

They claim they work in the Rochester, NY area, and have a team here - I’m not fully convinced this is the case and they didn’t just hire someone random to do our first trial. My warning to brides out there is to do a trial before you sign any contract. It is worth it to pay an extra $200 to know the vendors you’re hiring meet the quality of service you expect. We were not given this luxury and my trial was after a date in which I could not get a refund or reduce my services because of this I am out $3000. I did end up firing them. Their only saving grace is they tried to make my first horrible trial right with a second one with different artist. But they really didn’t meet the expectations with the price they were at. I have provided photos of my vision first and second trials for your reference.

When looking for a team of makeup artists I wanted I to make sure they were experienced in servicing women of every shade. It was also important to me that the artists enhanced their clients features and not made them look like someone else. Shajara and her team did just that! They made my bridal party, mother in law and sister in law look amazing. I am so pleased with how everyone looked.

Shae is a good friend of mine, so when I got engaged I already knew that I wanted her to do my makeup for my wedding! She helped calm my nerves by keeping good conversation and making me laugh, and she made me look so amazing. I got so many compliments on my makeup. I felt so beautiful on my wedding day.

While their work looks nice on their website, I will never know how their services truly are. When I first reached out to VogaBeauty through WeddingWire, they were quick to respond and answered all my questions thoroughly. While there were some grammatical issues/misspellings in their messages, I shrugged that off as human error. I was pleased that they did not require a minimum fee for services, as most hair and makeup places I'd encountered did, and I could not meet most of those minimums because it was only me, the bride, who would need services for the wedding day. After feeling content with the answers to my questions, I decided that I would like to book a trial with them. I was told that I needed to pay a $50 deposit to hold my wedding date ($52.00 after PayPal fees, the system that was used in sending the invoice). This seemed to be relatively standard practice, but I misunderstood that I could have done a trial before paying a deposit to hold my date. Had I understood that correctly, I would not have paid the deposit until after a trial to confirm that I wanted to go with her services. When VogaBeauty sent me the invoice, the date on the invoice was incorrect, and had the year as 2018 rather than 2019. This and the grammatical issues should have been a red flag for me, but I again just chalked it up to human error. I asked that it be corrected and resent, so she sent an updated one. Once I received the updated invoice, I paid and she sent me a confirmation email......confirming the incorrect date of my wedding, not the year this time, but the actual day. I immediately emailed asking her to confirm the CORRECT date. I was very uncomfortable now with the two incorrect listings of my wedding date, one having been made AFTER I paid a deposit. After three weeks of thinking on it and continuing to look for a hair and makeup artist that instilled more confidence, I emailed VogaBeauty respectfully requesting a refund of my invoice. While I certainly understand that I am not entitled to a refund, I believe it would be a professional courtesy to extend it to me due to the mistakes that were made regarding my wedding date, and the fact that I had provided ample amount of time for her to recoup any business she may have lost for my date in November-- this all happened at the end of February. Please note that I never signed a contract with her, so I was not violating a written contract aside from a PayPal invoice that said non-refundable on it. She stated that she would not refund my deposit. Unfortunately, I will not be referring her to anyone needing hair and makeup services, and the professionalism is lacking with misspellings in messages, and incorrect information being sent. Ultimately, I am thankful to have the peace of mind with someone else that I know will have my wedding date correct.

Shae and her team did an amazing job! They did the makeup and hair for myself and my 5 bridesmaids. Everyone looked amazing! They were punctual and willing to meet us wherever we wanted to get ready! Working with Voga Beauty was a great experience!
