Music is the heartbeat of your wedding. Once the weeks, months (and sometimes years) of planning have ended and the celebration begins, the DJ will be the one to make sure you and all of your guests are having the time of your lives. Who's That DJ, based out of Los Angeles, is a boutique DJ company specializing in wedding entertainment since 2005. We take a different spin on the traditional sound of the "wedding DJ" by creating an eclectic mix personalized for each one of our couples. We believe that a great DJ is always reading the crowd and communicating with them through the mix - we think carefully about the time, the place, and the people in front of us to choose the perfect song. Once the dance floor is full, we plan to keep it that way - all night. No cheese, just great music. We also believe that a significant, overlooked skill of a great wedding DJ, is also being a great MC. Our style is making well-timed announcements in a natural, personable way, without being overbearing or cheesy. We want to get people involved and excited without stealing the spotlight from our couples. Most weddings include an eclectic group of guests - all different ages and walks of life. Born and raised in LA, Matt Gudis, is one of the most in-demand, premier DJ/MCs in Southern California. He has performed at thousands of events - from the most lavish weddings to the hottest clubs - throughout the world since 2001. Heavily influenced by legendary DJs such as DJ AM, DJ Jazzy Jeff, Z-Trip, and A-Trak, Matt studied the art form of turntabilsm and the intangible skills of the greatest DJs in the world. om our very first meeting, Matt was the obvious choice for us. He was calm, knowledgeable, and we especially appreciated his insight on how to keep the flow of the party going: from where to put the horah to how much of a gap in between would kill the dancing. And he wasn't all talk. I mean this, I have never been to a wedding where the dancefloor was so alive the entire night! He was also incredibly collaborative, which was needed - we threw a lot of weird curveballs at him! We had a high-energy father daughter dance, and he knew exactly where to place it (after the mother-son dance, so it could ride into the dance hour); we needed help mixing our first dance song, and Matt stepped in with a seamless edit; finally, when we insisted on the Macarena, Matt knew exactly how to get EVERYONE on the dancefloor. We have had multiple people come up to us after to say that we had the most fun wedding they've ever been to, and we know this is in a large part thanks to Matt. The online programs he offers to help us make play lists (and do not play lists) is awesome and very easy to use. He absolutely met all of our expectations and more during the planning phase. Still, on our wedding day, we were blown away by the entertainment!! We wanted a somewhat traditional wedding vibe, with lots of dancing, but we also have particular and unique music tastes. We weren’t sure how to mesh all of that. Matt took all of our preferences and notes into account and gave us the most amazing music and vibe for the wedding. Our favorite music artist Gryffin decided to crash our wedding and surprise us, and Matt was instrumental in pulling it all off seamlessly: He hopped on a call immediately with Gryffin’s team and our wedding planner to plan out the surprise, from the entire setup to the timing of Gryffin’s appearance, hilariously MCing his arrival and faking us all out. We threw a long list of "must play" songs at him, but he magically got through them all and was able to mix things in perfectly. He was so easy to work with, helpful, and made it all seamless, beginning to end. We also used his services for a silent disco towards the end of the night, so if you're looking to add that on for your event, he can help with that as well. was like he instantly understood exactly what we wanted. My husband and I both have such a variety of music tastes and we wanted our wedding the reflect it all. Matt was able to make sure that the wedding felt like ours while still being able to read the dance floor and match the guest energy. He was a fantastic emcee who made sure everyone knew what was going on throughout the night when necessary but he also just let the party flow when that was the best thing to do. There was not one moment where we felt like the party slowed down and we are eternally grateful to Matt for that. After the wedding, we received nonstop countless compliments on the music and the DJ and we couldn’t agree more with all of the guests who loved him! We couldn’t have made a better choice!

The day of, we were so happy with the music selection throughout the day, during cocktail hour, the ceremony, dinner, and the reception. He worked with us to ensure that the music for our dances were timed correctly, and that all went very smoothly. Later in the night, he made sure everyone was having a great time on the dance floor and did a great job reading the room with a diverse mix of different ages and groups of people. e DJ option in the Greater Los Angeles area for three months and could not find someone that we felt we could connect with. The moment we found and spoke to Matt, we knew we wouldn’t have to worry about being able to get everyone on the dance floor, figuring out our outdoor AV setup needs, and satisfying the mix of cultures we had (New Orleans x Israeli wedding can be a tough one when it comes to music). Matt did an incredible job understanding our backgrounds and expectations of our celebration. Our mix of Israeli, Southern, and more modern music was incorporated organically throughout the day, and the transitions between each song and moment of the day were seamless. Matt was able to get everyone on the dance floor (of all ages) and did just enough MCing to make sure the night went smoothly. He was so easy and fun to work with. He also helped us bring the venue space to life by bringing floor lighting (which completely transformed the space). We will be calling Matt for any event we ever host in the future. He was excellent at communication and scheduled meetings with us to make sure he executed our wants music wise - from the pre-ceremony to ceremony, cocktail hours and all the transitions in between. research on DJs before landing on Matt and we know we made the right choice. Our research included listening to samples, and even visiting an open house by Vox. No one compared to the preparation and experience that Matt has. You'll notice he has the voice of Hollywood, which makes for a great MC! He has a form for announcements which he executed flawlessly on during our wedding. We had a few Spotify playlists to give him an idea of our style but ultimately told him we don't need him to stick to it because why else hire a top of the line DJ?? His transitions were slick. Our crowd went WILD. And we are from the Bay Area so when he played favorites from the Bay (not requested by us) the dance floor went insane (in a mind blowing good way!!!) he also respected our wishes--we didn't want organized dances like Macarena etc so when a pushy aunt wanted him to push a Congo line, he respected our wishes and didn't play it unless he got our cue. You want a DJ who can advise you in your blind spots (he's done more weddings than you ofc) and understand the vibe you're going for. You pay for the deep experience that he has--a wedding dj isn't just about great music which Matt can hands down mix, but it's about event management and understanding you and your guests! That's the kind of emotional intelligence and crowd reading you get from a TOP OF THE LINE DJ like Matt. He was worth the premium. Event flow was one of the most important aspects of the wedding for me. And making this critical pick and trusting Matt made all the difference!
