A Rustic, Travel Inspired Wedding at Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, Hawaii
Katharine Woloszyn (28 and a lawyer) and Ryan LaFrance (31 and a carpenter) met through mutual friends, just one month before Ryan was traveling around the world for an entire year. They exchanged information and kept in touch through emails, postcards and phone calls until Katharine and a couple of friends traveled to New Zealand to meet up with Ryan. At the end of the trip, Ryan had booked a ticket home with Katharine, and the rest is history. Katharine was traveling to Montreal, Canada for a work conference and had a dinner date with her sister’s best friend, but little did she know Ryan had other plans. Instead of the friend showing up at her hotel, Ryan surprised her with a proposal to follow. The couple got married at the Olowalu Plantation House in Maui, Hawaii with an intimate guest list of 30 people. The venue was the perfect location to have their rustic, vintage wedding while surrounded by tall trees and an oceanic view. Gold and blush with lace and wood details decorated the venue space, from the lush rose centerpieces to the ivory lace table runners; even the wedding invitations had gold foil that gave guests a glimpse of what they were in for! There were details throughout the day that reflected the couple’s love for traveling, inviting guests to write messages on Hawaii postcards and sign a letterpress map of Maui instead of a traditional guest book.
