A Traditional Spring Wedding at the Oakwood Country Club in Kansas City, Missouri
From skyward reaching arrangements of bright full blooms to the hand-painted wedding cake, Erica Tauscher (28 and a pianist) and Paul Tran’s (29 and an emergency medicine physician) wedding was all about simplicity and sophistication. After visiting numerous venues in the Kansas City, MO area, one in particular stood out — the Oakwood Country Club. Steeped in history, the stately venue offered a number of elegant interiors to choose from, complete with beautiful woodwork, vaulted ceilings and exquisite chandeliers, plus an outdoor patio overlooking the acres of perfectly groomed grounds. With the help of Thai Lam of Hitched Planning + Floral, the couple made their mark on the Oakwood, adding a layer of romance to the venue’s old world charm. Tall, lush arrangements of peonies, roses, stock and hydrangeas added an element of freshness and garden-inspired flair to each of the tabletops, while gilded accents played up the room’s refined feel. Dessert and entertainment were given considerable consideration and were highlights of the evening. Phantastic Desserts treated guests to an assortment of indulgent treats, including classic wedding cake, Oreo parfaits and cupcakes in unexpected flavors, while The Patrick Lentz Band turned the reception into an upbeat dance-worthy scene with a set list packed with fun dance hits. A tip for the taking from Erica: “I wore shoes that were extremely uncomfortable and they ended bruising my toenails! They were flats too, so I thought they’d be fine. Lesson of the day — make sure you try your shoes on before the day of!”
