An Organic Bohemian Wedding at Gheens Foundation Lodge in Louisville, Kentucky

College sweethearts Kimberly (Kim) Kasey (32 and a graphic designer) and Colin Garcia (31 and a filmmaker) got engaged during an impromptu proposal with a ring pop. "One of our favorite bands, The Features, was playing a free waterfront show one beautiful summer night, so on the day I thought, 'Hey! Think I might propose tonight!'" says Colin. "Since I hadn't a proper ring, I decided a strawberry ring pop would function as a fantastic place holder—Kim is far from materialistic and a hopeless romantic, so suffice to say it was a successful night!" Eleven months later, the couple exchanged vows during an organic wedding at Gheens Foundation Lodge in Louisville, Kentucky. "It's a modern-rustic building situated at the center of The Parklands, a lovely park system just outside our hometown," says Kim. "Plus, there's an old yellow silo just outside the lodge that's pretty amazing!" Kim and Colin drew inspiration from their shared love of nature for their organic green, gray and white wedding celebration. The opted for minimal shabby-chic decor and baby's breath arrangements to complement their venue's natural beauty. Kim and Colin wanted to make their guests feel special by cultivating a relaxed atmosphere, even going so far as disregard most traditions and expectations (like a white gown, veil and matching wedding party attire). "Instead of employing a seating chart we even had a sign that read 'Hostess Off Duty!''' says Kim. Throughout the entire "research and development" phase, Kim and Colin felt like many of the couples were too focused on the look of their big day. "Since obsession often leads to stress and work, we opted to keep things simple and uniquely us, without sacrificing beauty and fun," says Kim.   We employed a lot of Baby's Breath too. It's a simple, rninexpensive, and timeless classic. T "We were inspired to find something affordable and understated, not too garish or "typical". Both of us love nature and privacy, and The Parklands has both." - Colin GarciaThe three words they used to describe their wedding were: 1) unconventional 2) charming 3) simplistic
