Old Hollywood Inspired This Jewel-Tone Wedding at The Ebell of Los Angeles in California

For their wedding at The Ebell of Los Angeles in California, Hannah and Sarah drew inspiration from the Golden Age of Hollywood. Hannah and Sarah are history and film lovers, so they chose to incorporate both interests into the formal event. The classic film "Casablanca" was projected on the wall of the venue in the evening while a cigar roller was also on deck for entertainment. 

"Sarah is a huge film and history buff and when planning the wedding Sarah really wanted the vibe to have a subtle nod to the Golden Age of Hollywood," says Hannah. "The venue accomplished most of this, but the lighting and a vintage movie planning in the courtyard really did the trick. In addition, we wanted the wedding to feel classy and simple—not overdoing it too much. We prioritized good food, fun music and elegance for a beautiful Los Angeles wedding." 

Beyond planning a wedding that looked great, it was paramount to Hannah and Sarah that the day be filled with meaning. Especially when it came to planning the ceremony, the couple was intentional about finding ways to honor their Jewish heritage as well as the LGBTQ+ community. "As an LGBTQ+ wedding, it was important for people to be reminded of how meaningful it is to be able to marry," says Sarah. "At the start of the ceremony, Hannah's brother Andrew read the closing paragraph of Obergefell v. Hodges—the Supreme Court case that legalized gay marriage." Additionally, the couple "had a classic flower-covered chuppah with Hannah's father's Jewish Tallit draped on top. Hannah also had charms on her bouquet to honor her grandpa and grandma, who had passed."

Looking back on their beautiful jewel-tone wedding, Hannah and Sarah encourage current to-be-weds to "let go of everything else and everyone's opinions and know that it'll be the best day of your life regardless."
