Jon and I first met (officially) a few years ago at church, although if you ask his sister, we technically met long before that in the days of VBS at DuBois Alliance! However, it was not until early 2022 that we started talking more. I used to volunteer in the church's nursery every once in a while, and Jon sang on worship team which meant he was also at church earlier on Sundays. When worship team practice was over on Sunday morning, Jon would find his way to the nursery with Lucas and we would sit and talk about anything and everything until it was time for church to start. I knew then that I really loved to be around him, and I loved Lucas and how bright and full of life he was too.

Fast forward to late August of 2022, Jon was starting a young adults group at his house and he had invited me to attend. I was also singing on worship team too at this point, and it was through the small group meetings and time spent together at worship team that we began to really get to know each other more.

In October, we were having a normally scheduled small group night, but everyone else who normally attended had cancelled so it ended up just being Jon and I that night. We ate and prayed together, played some games (scrabble, in which he absolutely killed me), and spent hours talking about life - what our goals were, our relationships with God, our hardships and our most fun experiences, and everything in between. With Lucas, we sang songs together, built play-doh sculptures, ran laps around the house, and played "ghost." That night I fell in love with Lucas, and I fell in love with Jon. We both left that night knowing that we had found the one with whom we'd spend our lives with, and it was exactly a year after that night (which we lovingly refer to as "Scrabble Night") that Jon proposed.

Jon and I had our first "date" baking Christmas cookies together with Lucas in December, and we've been inseparable since. The rest is history!
