Michael and I had been friends since middle school. We had a few classes together each school year, but junior year I started cheering for our high school and Michael would carry my cheer bag every Friday from our math class to pregame. We slowly started talking more and more. When Michael asked me to prom junior year, we started to realize that we might be more than just friends. Shortly after that he asked me to be his girlfriend and we’ve been together ever since.
College starting meant the start of 4 years 300+ miles apart from each other. Michael played football at Duke and I went to GCSU to get my nursing degree. Our schedules were very busy, so we weren't able to see each other as much as we would've liked. There were times that we spent 3+ months without seeing each other. It was so hard, but it only made our relationship stronger.
Michael graduated from Duke and was drafted to the NY Jets. I graduated with my nursing degree and stayed in Georgia to work as a Labor & Delivery Nurse. Getting to watch Michael do what he loves most has been a dream come true all while living out my own dreams of delivering babies.
