Jeff and Amy met in the winter of 2016 in Cleveland, Ohio. On their first date, they went to happy hour at Don's Lighthouse in Lakewood (where Jeff ordered every menu item!) followed by games at Punchbowl Social.
It didn't take long for the two to fall for one another. But just as quickly as they fell in love, their relationship was met with a major roadblock: long distance. In the spring of 2017, Jeff had accepted a job in Chicago while Amy was still working as a nurse in Downtown Cleveland.
Amy traveled as often as she could to see Jeff, frequently bringing her suitcase to work so she could get to the airport after her shift ended or making the 6 hour drive to see him. It was tiresome and difficult, but so very worth it. The two could not be apart any longer, so Amy joined Jeff in Chicago in January of 2018.
Jeff and Amy built a life in Chicago, always traveling and attending concerts and sporting events together. They even added a furry friend, Belle, to their family on Valentine's Day 2019. Life (and love) was blossoming in Chicago, until spring of 2020.
When the pandemic hit, Amy was working as a critical care nurse and Jeff's hockey season was halted. The world outlook seemed dark and scary, but the two continued to kindle their love by cooking with one another and enjoying the time at home together (something that rarely happened during the season.) Yet again, though, Jeff was offered a new opportunity across the country in Las Vegas.
The family packed up their things and made the cross country drive from Chicago to Vegas. Pandemic times in Vegas were quiet and sad, but finally the city woke back up and it was time for fun!
Jeff and Amy soon added another dood, Diesel, to their family and life was lovely. The two continued to cultivate their love of fun and adventure by traveling, going to music festivals, and being active together.
Little did Amy know that on their hiking trip to Mount Zion in July of 2022, Jeff was planning the biggest adventure yet: proposing! The two climbed the most difficult trail at Zion: Angel's Landing. Amy was hoping that Jeff would propose at the top, but to her dismay, it didn't happen. However, the next day, on the balcony of their cabin in Utah, Jeff got down on one knee and asked her to be his forever. It was the easiest "yes" of her life.
~ We are so excited to share our story with all of our family and friends. There are people coming from all parts of the country to celebrate in a city that holds such a special place in our hearts! We can't wait to see you all, and we sure hope you're ready to party! Thank you for your support and love all these years, and we hope to continue this story for a lifetime! ~
