One of our favourite things to do during the summer is camping, we usually book at least 2 trips a year. We were getting ready for our last camping trip of the year at McGregor Point Provincial Park when Jake had this great idea to do a sunset picnic date at the beach one night while we where there.
Bless his heart he tried and tried to convince me to get my nails done and pick a cute outfit for the date, even offering to book the appointment and pay to ensure that I went. Well me being stubborn as usual declined all his offers saying "why in the world am i gonna get my nails done and dress cute for camping, they will just get dirty and ruined." clearly being oblivious is another characteristic besides stubborn that you could use to describe me :)
While camping comes and we are super excited to relax but Jacob just could not seem to sit still. It was day 3 into a 4 day camping trip, our last whole day there and our date day. When we woke up and came out of our tent we were surprised to find these two small dogs on our campsite. We made makeshift collars and leashes for them both and took them for a walk around the neighbouring campsites hoping their owner would claim them, but nobody was awake yet. We brought them back to our campsite and took care of them while we called the park to come and get them. Finally after a few hours go by a park truck comes, picks up the dogs and takes them to find their owner yay!
Okay now we can relax right, NOPE! after lunch time Jacob gets a call from his work while on vacation, which is super odd. His boss wanted to speak to him about a new position at the plant and did not want Jacob to miss out on the opportunity for a promotion while on vacation. Now with this great news Im thinking this picnic was a great way to celebrate our last night.
The time comes to go to the beach as the sun is beginning to set. I put on my comfiest leggings and tie-dye shirt for what I thought was a chill evening on the beach with the dogs. We get to the beach and it is practically empty, score! While finding a good place to sit and set up our blanket I see this lady sitting on a bench kinda just watching us so I decides to go further into the beach to get a bit more space and privacy for our date not realizing that I completely messed up the location that Jacob had picked out a few weeks prior when scoping the place out.
Finally we get to a spot that I choose and Jacob is asking me to tie up the dogs to this tree so we could walk to the water, now this is where I started to get the "this is weird" feeling as we never leave our babies like that. We get out to the water and Jacob says to me "i'm pretty sure you knew this was coming" the weird lady starts running over with a camera taking photos as he drops down to one knee and asks me to marry him. I WAS IN COMPLETE AN UTTER SHOCK!
Despite Jacob thinking I already knew what was going on I had no idea until he was on the ground. I started saying "no no no no no" in shock as he asks me to marry him, he even had to say "soooo is that a yes" cause I completely froze in excitement and shock. Then still taking it all in I hand Jacob both my hands, sticking consistent to awkwardly ruining everything, and he puts the ring on the wrong hand. If my reaction was not enough to show that I did not see this coming, the pictures sure do.
Although I wish I listened to Jacob and put on some cuter clothes and did my nails, I love the way everything unraveled, it was just so us! He thought of everything from trying to get me all dolled up to having a photographer there to catch the moment!
Once our little photoshoot was over we sat on the beach to have our date and he explained to me all the details of his planning process. We spent the rest of the night relaxing around the fire, taking it all in and discussing our ideas about our future wedding. We both just felt so high on life and could not imagine a better way to end the camping season.
