Surrounded by laughter, great food, and nostalgic music videos, Jayce met Ashley for the first time. From the moment their eyes met, Jayce knew there was something special about her. His first thought? “Damn, she’s beautiful.” What started as a casual introduction quickly turned into a series of memorable Sunday gatherings, where they shared inside jokes, great conversation, and endless laughter. Jayce found himself wanting to know more about the woman who had effortlessly captured his attention. The Moment That Changed EverythingDetermined to take a leap, Jayce invited Ashley to his birthday gathering at his apartment. He had already done his homework, making sure she was single—thanks to a little recon from Chris. That night, he was set on asking for her number. When she stepped out of the elevator, it was like the elevator scene in Boomerang. Time slowed, the world faded, and all Jayce could focus on was her. She looked stunning, and every ounce of confidence he had built up suddenly vanished. A perfect opportunity presented itself when she wanted to explore more of the building, leading them to a beautifully designed wine room. It was the perfect setup to ask for her number—but he froze. By the end of the night, despite great conversation, hilarious Gretna crew stories, and one final walk to her car, Jayce still hadn’t gotten her number. The next day, fate intervened. Chris texted Jayce, asking if he could pass his number along to Ashley so they could discuss details for the JSU Easter brunch. Without hesitation, he agreed. After a few days of texting about event logistics, Jayce couldn’t wait any longer. One evening, he sent a voice message—finally expressing his interest and asking her out on a date. The plan was set: Friday, March 24, at Fiola Mare. A Date to RememberLeading up to the date, nerves kicked in. Jayce spent the entire week meticulously planning his outfit, even bugging Makel for daily wardrobe advice—because he knew Ashley would show up looking incredible. And he was right. Ashley stepped out in a stunning, colorful dress, a luxurious fur coat, and heels that made a statement. Jayce was starstruck. For the first 20 minutes, he could barely form sentences—he was too busy admiring her. Their Uber ride was filled with great conversation, but an unexpected twist awaited them. The driver dropped them off at the wrong entrance, forcing them to walk in the rain. Jayce was concerned that Ashley might be annoyed, but instead, they laughed it off and made the best of the moment. Over dinner, he finally worked up the courage to tell her that he liked her and wanted to get to know her better. Ashley’s response? A warm smile and an easy, “That’s not a problem.” The night continued with drinks at a rooftop bar, deep conversations, and an unbreakable connection that carried them through until 6 AM. Their travels took them across the globe, including a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Africa. Even though Jayce fell sick during the first leg of their journey, their adventure in Morocco and Ghana made it one of their most cherished experiences together. Through it all—laughter, long talks, and shared dreams—they knew they had found something rare and worth holding onto. The ProposalJayce knew Ashley was the one long before he proposed. The moment that solidified it? A six-hour conversation on the couch, talking about life, love, and their future together. Ashley, being the practical planner that she is, had one condition before marriage—Jayce had to meet her parents first. After a trip to Ghana and an official family introduction, Jayce was ready. On their trip to Phoenix, he asked her father for his blessing, and with his enthusiastic approval, the proposal planning began. It was one of the longest, most stressful two months of his life—coordinating travel, logistics, and the perfect surprise while keeping everything a secret. Finally, on July 6, 2024, Ashley thought they were heading to a simple family dinner at McCormick &amp; Schmick’s. But when they arrived at the venue, she hesitated. Something felt different. Jayce took her hand and whispered, “Baby, just come with me.” As she stepped inside and saw her closest friends and family, the realization hit her.
