Brittany and Evan met in Spanish class at Lee University 2018. (Don’t ask them to speak in Spanish because they were a bit distracted.) Evan was so mesmerized by Brittany that he had to ask her out for coffee in November of 2018... and their story began. They enjoyed each other's company, but God’s timing was better than their own. When summer of 2019 rolled around, Evan planned a series of dates. Brittany was so nervous as she drove up to Tennessee to meet up with Evan. They sipped on coffee as Brittany did most of the talking. After coffee, they went on a hike at Benton Falls and it ended in a run back to the truck in the rain. Evan dropped Brittany off at her house to freshen up before dinner. They drove to Aubrey’s for dinner, which led to deep conversations and ended the night with a movie. This weekend finalized that they were more than crushing on each other.
Each week they would find time to travel to see each other. Evan ended up driving 10 hours from Mt. Vernon Ohio to Gainesville, Ga to meet the Barker family. That weekend Evan realized that he didn't want to let another day go by without Brittany being his. They began officially dating! Their story only grew into a beautiful love story. “I know Evan loves me just by a simple look he gives me, being held in his arms, and the constant engagement of wanting to provide the best''. They went from “I like you a lot” to “I love you more”. Evan and Brittany went to school together for a bit and then Evan switched to online schooling so that he was able to work full time to begin to save for a life and future with Brittany Barker.
Evan knew that there was nothing else to do, but to get down on one knee! He proposed June 27, 2020, on Lee University campus, near the location where they first met! It was a beautiful crisp day with flowers, family, tears in their eyes when Evan asked Brittany to marry him. She responded with a bright smile and one simple word “absolutely”. They were both full of all the emotions and so thankful to share the moment with family. But the day was not over, they celebrated with family and friends at Bonlife Coffee where they had their first date.
Each day they continue to love each other more and more and truly can't wait to spend the rest of their days together. Thankful is an understatement. God was in the making of their relationship. And God is what drives them to be better for each other.
