We first met at the end of July 2017 at the Old Lock and Dam in Downtown Newburgh. Cecelia was staying the night with some lacrosse friends and crossed paths with Cale. We added each other on Snapchat, and Cecelia started the chase. Our first date was August 17th, 2017, at Dick’s Sporting Goods to find Cale a new mouthguard for the Friday night football game. He then took her to Orange Leaf after, but Dick’s was technically our first date.
A week later, Cecelia met Cale’s family for the first time, and her first impression was how cold their house was. He thought she was trying to take one of his sweatshirts already, but she was freezing her tail off.
We had our first kiss, on August 23rd, 2017 after Cale met Cecelia’s mom and siblings. Harrison, Cecelia’s little brother immediately adored Cale. That night Harrison tagged along and tried to stay in between the two. All Harrison wanted to do was “wrestle” with Cale and show him all his trains. That is when Cecelia knew she was in trouble.
Cale asked Cecelia to be his girlfriend on September 3rd, 2017. He took her to the Smiths (Cales grandparents) where he had a picnic with chocolate-covered strawberries next to a fire pit. Cecelia almost ruined the evening because she insisted on meeting with Kaylee Metcalf and her guy at the time for ice cream. His original plan was to ask at sunset, but we ended up getting there at dark.
From then on we went to three dances, cheered each other on sporting events, watched each other graduate high school, moved each other into college, watched each other graduate college, and even moved in together.
Cale popped the question on May 27th, 2023. He took her to Sugar Creek in Darlington, IN where they did his favorite thing, fishing.
When we get married we will be together for almost seven years. We truly are so happy we are getting married and can't wait to celebrate with you.
