Join in on the party as the San Diego Zoo celebrates its 100th anniversary. With new exhibits and attractions, and a host of special events planned throughout the year, this centennial bash is sure to put a special twist on your next visit.
To help ring in the 100th year, go watch a centennial-themed Dr. Zoolittle show at the Wegeforth Bowl, where the brand new state-of-the-art Centennial Theater offers an amazing viewing experience. Be on the lookout for 10 different birthday party stations that are scattered throughout the zoo and participate in intriguing presentations about how the zoo was founded and how it’s evolved over the years.
Between the special celebrations, come face to face with a huge array of exotic animals, as the park boasts over 400 different species. Wander from one natural habitat to the next, as you move from the savanna of African elephants and zebras, to rhinos bathing in a cool oasis, to playful meerkats rummaging around their burrows before poking their heads out to greet you.
Before you leave, don’t forget to take a high-flying ride on the Skyfari aerial tram, cruise around the zoo on a guided bus tour, and consider up-close interactions that can put you face to snout with a few of your favorite creatures.
This immersive and educational expedition takes you around the world as you witness fantastic creatures in habitats that perfectly simulate their natural wildlife homes. As you look back on 100 years of excellence, you might even forget that you’re in a zoo at all.

San Diego Zoo Tickets - Centennial Celebration

Climb aboard the USS Midway, known for serving in both Operation Frequent Wind in 1975 and Operation Desert Storm in 1991. Take time to explore all the main areas of this famed aircraft carrier, including access to 29 carefully restored aircraft on the flight deck.
Visit the 60 exhibits, each steeped with the sights, sounds, and smells of the Midway's past. Step into the massive galley, tour the engine room, and walk through the private sleeping quarters of the sailors. Then head to the 4-acre (1.6-ha) flight deck to get an up-close view of the F-14 Tomcat and the TBM Avenger.
A day spent on board this floating city allows you to take a journey back in time with the original crew of the Midway. Listen to their voices on the audio tour as they offer firsthand accounts of daily life at sea. In addition, the volunteer docents, many who also served on the Midway, share their personal stories and anecdotes with you during your day of discovering a piece of American history.

The sun beats down on the grasslands as you look out over the plains, and for a second, you swear you feel the heat of the Kenyan savanna. Explore natural habitats and get up close and personal with more than 400 species of animals—from African elephants to zebras—at the San Diego Zoo Safari Park.

Ride along the boardwalk of Mission Beach and view local vendors, beach food trucks, and of course, the picturesque coastline.
