It was July 2018, the Bayshore area in Long Beach was packed with beach goers to enjoy the summer weather. Max's friend suggested he come join his triathlon team for a swim meet up since it was so close to his home. Daniela had plans to lead the swim loop since she was on the team and helped coach them. Max was unable to meet up for the swim, but would join the group later for a beer after the swim at a local spot on 2nd street in Long Beach. Max's childhood friend, Nick, is the one that introduced them.

Daniela and Max seemed to hit it off immediately, she loved how funny he was. After getting to know each other over a couple of hours, Daniela knew she wanted to spend more time with Max. After some time, coordinating, and another group hangout, Daniela asked Max out on a date. He said yes!
