The BeginningBeth and Dean’s story began in Tucson, AZ at a mutual friend’s birthday party—during the height of the pandemic, no less. While most people were busy perfecting sourdough or stockpiling toilet paper, these two were unknowingly starting the first chapter of something much better. A friendship sparked, and soon Dean invited Beth to join his local adult-league kickball team. (Yes, kickball. No, they don’t take it too seriously… okay, maybe Dean does.)Over the course of the season, their friendship grew, fueled by post-game laughs and a shared love of the outdoors. Eventually Dean asked Beth on their first date: a hike. What he didn’t mention was his questionable sense of direction. Luckily, Beth’s wasn’t much better. They got a little lost, bonded over it, and laughed the entire time—still one of their favorite stories to tell. From that day on, they were inseparable.As their relationship blossomed, so did their list of shared hobbies. Dean introduced Beth to the world of EDM and festivals, and soon they were dancing at shows, snowboarding down mountains, paddle boarding, camping, hiking, and basically saying “yes” to every adventure that crossed their path.Long-Distance (But Make It Romantic)When Dean got a job in Phoenix, they knew they didn’t want distance to dim anything. So they spent a full year swapping weekends between Tucson and Phoenix until Beth made the move herself. Their little family expanded when Dean officially “adopted” Beth’s dog, Bugs—who now proudly considers Dean his second favorite human (Beth still holds the top spot… or at least she claims she does).The Road Trip of a LifetimeIn 2023, instead of buying each other gifts, Beth and Dean decided to do something far more meaningful: take a road trip of a lifetime. They flew into Oregon, rented a camper van, and began an epic trek down through Oregon and California—eventually dropping the van off back home in Phoenix.Along the way, they visited jaw-dropping places like Toketee Falls, Crater Lake, the Redwood Forest, Joshua Tree, and Yosemite National Park, where they witnessed the rare and mesmerizing Fire Falls. They even squeezed in snowboarding on Mt. Hood and a stop in Bakersfield to visit Dean’s parents.Their home for ten days was a cozy camper van equipped with all the essentials - at least for two people who think “adventure” is a love language. They slept at truck stops and campsites, cooked meals under the stars, and took each day slowly, savoring the views and each other’s company. And despite living in very close quarters for 10 days, they managed to not kill each other—a major green flag. Instead, they filled the trip with laughter, quiet mornings, spontaneous detours, and heartfelt conversations about the future. Somewhere between waterfalls, campfires, and winding mountain roads, they dreamed up the life they hoped to build together.Their love only grew from there. In April 2024, they bought a house together and made it their own—with Bugs supervising every step of the process.The ProposalThen came the proposal. In October 2024, on a spontaneous trip up the Amalfi Coast, they found a tiny town with a charming Airbnb and a private front porch overlooking the sea. One early morning, as the sun rose in perfect cinematic fashion, Dean got down on one knee. It was quiet, emotional, and wonderfully magical—just the two of them and a moment they’ll remember forever.From an accidental detour on their first hike to saying “yes” on an Italian cliffside, Beth and Dean can’t wait to keep adventuring hand-in-hand into the rest of their lives.
