Yes, that is correct!! Meeting your spouse online these days usually seems to be the biggest recipe for disaster, but we seemed to both have found “the sugar, the spice, and everything nice” lol.
We met on an app called BLK, back in May 2020, basically Hinge but a space for black couples. After matching, we spoke a bit on the app until we decided to follow each other on socials. We actually stopped talking, after we realized we’re living in completely different states: Akeem in Colorado and Deidre in Texas (at the time). Now, how exactly did we match, living over 800+ miles apart? A mystery still up to this day lol.
After approx 4-5 months of not really speaking but interacting on multiple post from each other, we rekindled conversations via IG in September 2020 and decided to exchanged numbers. We guess it was the best decision because from that moment on, we never went a day without speaking.
Lmaoo, yes long distance, but not for too long. In today generation, let’s be real…most long distance relationships only last for short timeframes lol. So we knew if it was really going to work, a decision needed to be made. We talked for approximately 5 months before we met for first time in Feb 2021, when Deidre came to Colorado. After that, Akeem came to California (where Deidre had moved to at the time), and we
made it officially around her birthday in April 2021.
We made the decision for Deidre to move to Colorado based on our schedule flexibility and careers. Up until moved to Denver in Aug 2021, we visited each other back and forth multiple times in Colorado and California.
