Derek and Chloe met when they were put in the same tech school class by chance. From the moment Derek shared his snickers bar with Chloe there was an instant connection. They quickly became inseparable and spent almost every moment of those months together. Derek got stationed in New Jersey while Chloe went back to her base in Kansas.

Less than two months after saying goodbye Derek flew to Kansas and asked Chloe to be his girlfriend, and so began the first of dozens of goodbyes and flights to visit each other. Derek fell in love with the midwest and soon Chloe would meet Derek's family in Florida and experience the tropical life.

Derek proposed!! Easiest 'yes' Chloe ever said. They had a small picnic outside with ramen noodles (Chloe's choice). Through all the struggle of long distance their love has only grown for each other.
