Our story starts back in high school. We had our first class, grade 9 strings where we got to laugh at each other’s instruments across the room. Eleacia had chosen the smallest instrument, the violin and Allen the largest, the stand up bass. Through music, French immersion and shared passions for fishing, video games and a lot of Allen eating Eleacia’s lunches, we quickly became and stayed best friends well past graduation.

In post secondary, this friendship matured into one of consistent laughter and mutual trust. We could depend on each other through the celebrations and the setbacks. Traveling, hiking, sushi, hours of X-Files, a few well timed rock climbing dates, and some wonderful meddling from our close friends, it was apparent to everyone we were not just friends anymore.

7 years, 2 cats, developing an addiction to portaging and several apartments later, we were ready to make the next jump. We went on our annual ice out (May) camping trip with our close friends Jaime and Julien. 3 days in, covered in dirt but blessed with amazing weather, Allen took Eleacia to a beautiful meadow on Lake Louisa, where he surprised her with a proposal.
