Emma and Kerwin’s love story began in January of 2016. Emma and Kerwin met while working as counselors at Northwood Children Services. Known for its harsh winters, Duluth’s inclement weather nearly prevented our first date. Ever persistent (Kerwin) and flexible (Emma), we decided to instead participate in an activity which has become tradition in the Winship-McKay household. Cooking together, enjoying refreshments, and binge watching reality TV. Over the first couple years of dating, Emma and Kerwin bonded over their love for 4 legged friends. After many walks with Emma’s dog Nala, it didn’t take much for Emma to convince Kerwin that it would be a great idea to adopt a “Saint Bernard mix”, Grover, to give Nala a companion. Fortunately, our rammy-lovable oaf Grover ended up being a much smaller breed of doggo than anticipated. This opened up space in our hearts (and home) for an ornery, geriatric, Chihuahua, Ernie to insert himself into. We insist to this day, that Ernie found us… but who could say no to a toothless chihualito??
In April of 2022, Emma and Kerwin’s relationship took another step. While on a 7-day cruise, which ended up being a 4 day cruise (Damn inclement weather, AGAIN). Kerwin finally decided to pop the infamous question while overlooking Magen’s Bay on the island of St.Thomas. The rest of the story is history! We can’t wait to celebrate our love with you all!
