2016

Picture of 2016
Our story begins on Christmas Eve of 2016 (this photo is from 2017…but let’s pretend it’s not). I had been singing in the praise band since February of that year, though Ian had been a member for much longer! In between services, we had our first ~real~ conversation. I know what you’re thinking, how did it take almost a FULL YEAR? Well, if you know Ian…he’s quite the quiet guy😂 But we spent almost an hour talking that night, and I remember thinking that he was so well-spoken, mature, and unlike any other guy I knew at the time! This began a 6-month long crush…of which Ian knew nothing about😂

First Date(s) - Summer of 2017

Picture of First Date(s) - Summer of 2017

In June of 2017 I finally mustered up enough courage to ask a COLLEGE BOY out. Not sure who high school me thought I was! Throughout the months leading up to this, I took advantage of EVERY opportunity to talk to this boy. Shameless plug, but if you listen to my song “Mine”, each line is a play by play of this period of time😂 When I finally texted him, I invited him out for coffee…though neither of us liked coffee☕️ I made it VERY clear that if he was not interested it was “totally fine”…but man would I have been heartbroken. I was absolutely giddy at work when he accepted my offer, and actually offered a more “formal” date option of lunch, where he would pick me up, take me out, and give me a tour of Bradley’s campus, which is the college he attended at that time. It rained on our walk, but I don’t think either of us cared. We were thoroughly enjoying our conversation. When he dropped me at home, I genuinely forgot my leftovers in the car (despite popular belief, this was NOT a ploy to make him come back😂) but he graciously brought them back to me, and we spent even more time sitting on the front porch swing and talking.

We are both so grateful to have met in such a genuine way, before dating apps and the mess that trying to date nowadays can be. We truly DATED by going to dinner, movies, family game nights, or just spending time talking together. Pictured above was the first time he came to visit me at my summer job at the local ice cream shop😊

2017 - The First 6 Months

The first 6 months consisted of Ian supporting me through so many activities in my senior year of high school. My last season of marching band, my last musical (High School Musical where I played Sharpay💅), and homecoming. I got to help his parents surprise him with a car on his 19th birthday, which was SO much fun! We took our first weekend trip with his family to Chicago after Ian’s birthday/Christmas to celebrate! Such sweet memories❤️

2018

2018 was our first full year together! We went to my senior prom, he was there when I graduated high school, and we spent such a fun summer together! Took a weekend trip to Chicago, continued playing in the praise band, and saw Snoop Dogg in concert for Ian’s birthday😎 I got to support him in an event he organized at Bradley, and he helped me transition into college life! Ended the year with another annual post birthday/Christmas Gregg family trip to Milwaukee❄️

2020

Oh 2020…the year of tackling COVID together. Ian was with his family in WI for the entirety of April and May, and being separated during such a scary and uncertain time was incredibly difficult. But, we persevered and still had a wonderful year full of memories! Ian graduated college (!!❤️, but of course, over a virtual ceremony), we spent time with his family in WI, played plenty of shows together, and got FAKE MARRIED!😂👰🏼‍♀️🤵🏻‍♂️ For those who don’t know, in December of 2020 we were asked to model for a “styled shoot” for some photographer friends of mine to promote a bunch of local businesses in the wedding world! It was SO much fun, and we got some beautiful photos out of it! Can’t wait for round two…for real this time🤍

2021

In 2021 Ian became a full-blown adult with a big boy job and all while I conquered my senior year of college! We took a lovely ski trip together (where I never made it off the PRACTICE hill…not even to the bunny hill😂⛷️), spent time in WI with his family, took a trip to Orlando and went to Disney for the first time, and so much more! ❤️
