* Lazy Dog, 1115 N Milwaukee Ave, Vernon Hills, IL 60061 - Lazy Dog Restaurant & Bar is a casual dining restaurant that serves handcrafted American food and drinks highlighting seasonally inspired ingredients.


* Volo Meat Market, 27090 Volo Village Rd, Volo, IL 60073- local butcher shop and delicatessen offering gourmet sandwiches and prepared foods. Our favorite local spot for some good sandwiches and the best "NY style" pizza we've found so far.


* Portillo's, 221 W Townline Rd, Vernon Hills, IL 60061 (several locations, this is our closest) - American fast casual restaurant chain based in the Chicago area that specializes in serving Chicago-style food such as hot dogs, Maxwell Street Polish, and Italian beef.


* Giordano's, several locations - Giordano's deep dish pizza is still considered one of Chicago's best stuffed pizzas.


* Walker Bros. Original Pancake House, 200 Marriott Dr, Lincolnshire, IL 60069 - Local pancake house known for their apple pancakes, French toast, and omelettes.


* Culver's - lots of locations - Midwest fast food chain famous for Wisconsin favorite, fried cheese curds! Their menu includes frozen custard, burgers, fried chicken and salad.

The Volo Museum and Historic Volo Country Village! In addition to the 300 collector autos that are for sale, the museum displays include one of the largest TV and movie car collections ever assembled, a vintage snowmobile collection, marine & boat memorabilia and cycle & scooter collection. And for those looking for a rare find - their shopping malls also now number five - Antique Malls 1 2 3, and two gift and collectible malls - the Mercantile and the Straw Market.

- Mickey Finn's Brewery, 3.2 miles

Want to get outdoors? The Lake County Forest Preserves offer a vast natural escape across more than 31,000 acres of protected land. With over 200 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, visitors can immerse themselves in diverse landscapes, from prairies and woodlands to wetlands and lakes. Year-round activities, including sledding, snowshoeing and cross-country skiing in winter, provide endless ways to connect with nature. And yes, you can rent snowshoes at some of the locations!
