At first sight I knew he was something special. Dan is easy to love, he is brave, he is goofy, incredibly smart, and very handsome. When he proposed every cell in my body screamed “YES!”

Dan and I went to Steamboat Springs to attend Winter Wonder Grass, a very fun and snowy outdoor music festival. Our first day visiting, we ate lunch at ONeills Tavern with Jayden, my younger brother. Maggie, was with us, of course, so we sat on the sunny patio. It was a lovely day. After our delicious meal, we walked off the patio to the street below. Dan started walking in the opposite direction of the car. Confused I asked “didn’t we park this way?” Dan responded “We are gonna take the scenic way back to the car.” I did not protest, Dan has never gotten us lost. As we walked I noticed all the snow. So pretty. I scooped some up and threw it over Dan’s head. We kept walking, crossing over a bridge. Jayden and Dan started walking slower and I continued to soak in the views. Beautiful mountains, freezing river, snowy everything. As I turned around to see if they stopped, I saw Dan getting down on one knee. I immediately covered my mouth, speechless. I started to jump up and down as Dan said “Will you marry me?” I squeaked out a few giggles before I screamed “YES!”

And so began our journey to get married! We spent the rest of the weekend walking Maggie around snowy trails, bundled up together on the Steamboat Bus, and in the snow and wind listening to some good bluegrass music. I am so lucky to be engaged to the love of my life.
