We met in March 2015 in Los Angeles after both swiping right on each other off the dating app, Tinder. (There is an unconfirmed, but likely true first meeting three years before that where we rocked out together at the end of a Linkin Park concert).

After chatting over the app, we decided to meet up for a first date. We met in Little Tokyo for sushi dinner and after went to a nearby barcade for games and drinks. We quickly connected on mutual interests, similar values, and common senses of humor.

We officially became a couple on May 21, 2015!

As you can imagine after a decade of us, we have been able to create so many great memories. Some highlights include our travel experiences! Over the years, we have explored many different countries aboard together. We have climbed the Great Wall of China, hiked Machu Picchu and trekked the Amazon Rainforest in Peru, "Mario-Karted" through the streets of Tokyo in Japan, saw incredible wildlife on a safari in South Africa, and rang in the new year in Mexico City!

We have also traversed around the USA, including visiting 19 states and over a dozen U.S. National Parks together!

Both of us are huge animal lovers. One of the best things that happened when we moved in together was we became one big family full of fur, feathers, and scales.

We bought our house on November 30, 2021 in Sacramento!

Hector proposed to Scott on the evening of May 21, 2024 (our 9-year anniversary) on the Island of Hawaii (The Big Island). We were returning from a short hike on Mauna Kea just as the sun had finished setting. Hector pretended his earring had fallen out and asked Scott to help look for it on the ground in the darkness. When Scott turned his back, Hector got down on one knee and popped the question just as Scott turned back around to face him. Of course the answer was yes! It was such a perfect moment just for us and a beautiful memory.
