We had crossed paths at least a few times in the years leading up to our relationship. We both attended Grace Bible Church and the college ministry there. Heidi became good friends with Benaiah's cousin, Anna. But nothing was set in motion until the day Heidi moved in with some friends.

These friends were part of a friend group that included Benaiah. As the friend group enjoyed times of fellowship, Heidi began to take notice of Benaiah. She was drawn to his sense of humor and personality. He was really cute!

Fortunately, one of our friends informed Benaiah of Heidi's interest, and he asked her out on a date. We went to a coffee shop on a frightfully icy day, and talked for hours. On our second date, we went out for coffee again, but with the weather being less dangerous, we found ourselves wandering around various shops and stores in Bozeman for several hours afterwards, simply enjoying each other's company. It wasn't until the sky was dark and we ran out of stores to walk through that we finally parted ways and went home.

We dated for about one year and six months before the big announcement. During this time, the love we had for each other grew and grew. It was becoming clear to us that God had led us to each other.

On August 16th, 2025, we went on one of our favorite scenic drives through the mountains. We stopped on a gravel road to "take pictures". Benaiah distracted Heidi with the beautiful scenery while carefully setting up a hidden camera. Heidi was too enveloped with their conversation and the beauty around her to notice him slip a box behind his back. All of a sudden, there he was, down on one knee! Of course, the answer was yes! Now we are counting down the days, so excited to start our new lives together!
