Finding Mr. Wright!

Like many modern love stories, ours began with a dating app! When we wrote our profiles, we both emphasized how important our faith in Christ is to us and that we were looking for someone who shared that faith. Our first date was lunch after church on a rainy Sunday in February 2024. Jana knew Jamey was special because he arrived at the restaurant early and was waiting with an umbrella to walk her from the car to the restaurant. On that first date, we discovered that we both enjoy the outdoors - biking, kayaking, camping, hiking.

Jamey’s dating game was strong, and included beachside campfires, a boat ride along the intracoastal where we were surrounded by a pod of dolphins for over 15 minutes, bike rides in a local nature preserve, concerts, and dinner in downtown St. Augustine. But it was an afternoon at the beach where we took turns answering a set of pretty deep get to know you questions when we started to fall in love. Let us know if you need the link to the questions! Another highlight of 2024 was reading through the Psalms together out loud, whether in person or a morning FaceTime call.

Jamey was born and raised in Jacksonville, FL and moved to St. Augustine in 2021. He works as a software engineer and attends Colonial Church. Jana has lived in 6 states plus spent 7 years in Australia and has lived in St. Augustine since 2007. She works in fundraising for a Bible translation ministry and attends Anastasia Baptist Church. Jana loves that Jamey is caring, capable and gets stuff done! Jamey loves Jana’s communication, sense of adventure and Christian character.

We have enjoyed getting to know each other’s family, including Jamey’s parents Bob and Kathy Wright who live in Jacksonville and his sister and brother-in-law Ginny and John and their son Noah who live in Tallahassee. Jamey won major points when he traveled to Tennessee with Jana in June to meet Jana’s parents, Stuart and Janet Holsing. Later that month we attended the graduation of Jana’s niece in northern Virginia where Jamey met Jana’s brother Jared, his wife Claudia and their two kids, Daniela and Santiago, sister Stephanie and her (now husband) Steve.

On October 25th, Jamey proposed on the beach in St. Augustine after we watched the sunrise and read a Psalm. It could not have been more perfect and meaningful, and there *may* have been tears of joy!

Jamey has 8 kids ranging in age from 27 to 12. Jana has 3 young adult kids. We’re both excited to “expand our tent” as we grow to know and love these bonus kids God has entrusted to us. Jamey’s dad jokes about the “Prayer of Jamez” (play on words of Jabez/Jamey) from 1 Chronicles 4:10. May it be so for our new family.

Our plans for the future include settling into the home we will share together, while attempting to grow vegetables in the back yard. Jamey wants to continue fishing and enjoying the Florida outdoors while spending as much time with his kids as he can. We both want to camp more, and Jana wants to check off more of her travel bucket list including the national parks in the western United States, The Netherlands, Colombia, St. Lucia, and Switzerland. But she’ll also settle for reading a good book on the beach while Jamey catches fish for dinner! Jana hopes to continue to enjoy family dinners with her adult kids while they are all living in St. Augustine.

We are so grateful to each one of you who has been such a special part of our lives. We look forward to celebrating our wedding day with you and hope to host you in our home for dinner or an extended stay.
